Your comparing sealed vs ported....

The Ultra is one of the best measured subs available for the money...

Personally I prefer sealed, but you will likely need 2 sealed subs to get the same amount of output as the ported will produce.

The new paradigm has not been out for long and hasn't been measured by 3 parties to give accurate notions of comparisons. I would hope they improved the SQ with this new lineup, but as it stood with the older Paradigm Servo .2 it was a pretty good sub, but there are better out there for the money.

How about a couple of questions....?

What is the dealer offering for a price on the Sub 25 if I may ask... ?
What size is your room?
Is this for HT or music.... or what percentage of both?

i dont have a price yet for the sub25 but i already know its like twice the price of the 13 ultra and i wondered if the price difference is worth it..the specs on the sub25 are impressive according to paradigm web site .. my room is 20' by 16' by 8'...in open area with the diner room and living room...i would say i listen to 60% music and 40% movies!

For a room that is open to the other areas, you also need to include those areas in your measurements, but a single Ultra13 would be your better bet IMO...

In a sealed room of 2500 ft cubed the Ultra would be more then plenty and impressive... add another later down the road and that would be scary, depending on your listening habits... I like overwhelming myself...

Are you opposed to DIY, you could build some great subs for much cheaper, and it can be really fun...

I built a few sealed 24" cubed boxes with 18" drivers each and they sound awesome and really put out clean fantastic bass for less then $800 each.

Well according to Jeff Fritz of hometheatersound the sub25 is simply a monster and says that the sub25 plays louder and cleaner then the fathom ft113 (clearly superior) he says...so i think i will be saving for the sub25 :D

So you are willing to pay twice the price for a sub, that the Ultra will likely outperform, based on a guy, paid to review a sub, saying "simply a monster and the sub25 plays louder and cleaner then the fathom ft113 (clearly superior)"?

i know the fathom 113 is a very good sub so if the sub25 outperform it i guess it must be very impressive and for the ultra versus the sub25 i really dont know but how do you know it outperform the sub25?...does the fathom 113 outperform the ultra?

AH does have a quick write up about the Sub 25 from the 2008 Cedia show.

You have to love competition. Interesting to see how this will perform against a DIY offering with the EP2500 and the DCX2496 handling the power and room/speaker integration.

you say (some say it does) the fathom 113 outperform the ultra ??
That would correct sir. Outdoor ground plane testing by a pannel of judges. A few out ranked the jl. For esthics i would take the jl.

No problem.

I was always a big fan of my Servo15 and it took many weeks for me to realize that it just couldn't touch my DIY no matter how much I wanted it to.

It was a very good sub until you factored in the price compared to an Ultra or a DIY. When I tested the Servo side by side with my DIY, the Servo would be at full extension and start to bottom out and my DIY would hardly be moving.

[/QUOTE] all i want is the best result and option im a bass freak!...mb i will just end up buying another seismic12..do you think it would be a big upgrade having dual seismic12 compared to a single one...or i sell the seismic12 and go for a single better one but im confused to pick one right now..i also thought about dual pb12-plus?

That's difficult to say. Half of the people will tell you to get one good sub and the other half will tell you to run two subs if they are both pretty high quality.

If you can run stereo subs or stack them and use a nice EQ for them, that would be the way to go.
