What secular world are you referring to? The Middle East is hardly secular and many other countries have a strong identity based partly on their religion.

We're a nation of people who are free to follow/not follow whatever religion they choose. However, Hallmark and many other companies would have dried up and blown away long ago if they couldn't sell as many cards, candies and decorations as they have.
