Lookin for new speaker thats loud

I have a old set of cerwin vegas at 15s that i refurbished and love and that have been a pleasure at many partys.. Question is I am ready to get a new set of somethin???? Someone told me a bose 901 can so the same bass that the cerwin vega can??? Is that true?? I like the new cerwin vegas but my old girls i bought 21 years ago and still kick it??? Any suggestions?? Keep them??

The Bose 901s won't have near the same amount of bass as the Cerwins. I look at Bose as a 3 point failure. They fail to make speakers that offer good value, they fail to operate full range, and they fail on output capability in most cases.

I don't like Cerwin Vega at all, and I would take them over an Bose speaker on merit alone, and the Cerwin Vegas would sound much better anyway.

Who ever told you that the 901s could compete favorably or the same as the Cerwins had something in that pipe other than tobacco.

Lots of speakers will play loud. Whats your budget and how much do you care about how good that loud sounds?

If you want loudspeakers check the link below. That is what they are LOUDSPEAKERS not a quality sound, but loud, very loud $4000.-- each. These are real Klipsch, not the Chinese ones they sell at BB. Even the Heresy cranks.

Danley Soundlabs SH-Mini tapped horns have really high quality sound in a small package. They also go very loud for their size. I'd go with that over the Klipsh for the tops. For the bass a CS-30 should get you started.


Matt's JTR recommendation is good too, Jeff is a top notch builder and a nice guy all around.

It's hard to be too specific without knowing what you want this for? Parties? Jammin on your own? What kinda music? How big is the space?

Some questions:

What do you currnetly have for a receiver ? Are you open to upgrade?
does it have LFE or subwoofer pre-out connections

What is your room size ?

By loud do you want to feel it (subwoofer) or just loud dB-wise ( loudness) over the entire frequency spectrum?

How much is your budget?

Even better than the old Klipsch crates? We had a pair of these at a housing coop I lived at when I went to university. The pair was loud enough for an outdoor No Talent Night attended by 350+ people. They were plenty loud even at 30-40' away. I never really appreciated just how loud that was.

I was going to recommend the SH-50 but then I realized they were nearly $4k for the pair.

It's a bit less than 4,000USD each, so 8,000 for the pair. I moved some SH-50s to help a friend a bit back and it took two of us, shipping weight was like 140-lbs each I think in the crate. Great speaker, but, you really need a dedicated room for them.

A SH95, is like 2500 each, would be a fantastic home theater speaker and is reasonable in cost. Kickass sound quality.

But, some SH-Mini's at well under 1000 bucks is more output than youd imagine and the sound quality is excellent. Very wide sweet spot. I'll snap a picture of one tonight if your curious.

Well i think if you enjoy the sound of your current speakers, maybe you would like the cerwin VE-12s that i own. they are awesome for movies and while not as accurate or detailed as some might need, they are loud and clear. i find them very good, and for the price i think are fine. i like the fact that on H/t duty set to large i had the two 12's plus the velo 10 doin the LFE so it provides enormas bass that is deep and i find very accurate. i know alot of guys detest the cerwins but ive heard alot of other speakers and think they perform well in comparison.
