Next week, Fox News is doing a special on rising fascism. I hesitated to call it as I saw it, but it is what it is and other people smarter than I recognize it as well.

I'll have to watch that. Sounds interesting, to say the least. Who knows where this new world order is headed...

Really? You're relying on Fox News to lead the way in journalism?

FoxNews and Fascism. I see the connection...they both start with "F".
Which celebrity is O'Reilly going to boycott this week?

I am aware of the hostility some people hold towards Fox News. Yet Forbes magazine was already discussing the flight of the wealthy, their capital and the jobs they create to the point of speculating, or suggesting, which jurisdictions would be best for wealthy Americans to hide their wealth from the U.S. government. Think what you want of Fox but when Forbes starts talking about these things, it is prudent to pay attention. This was even before Obama's latest move into the range of fascist intervention. I can't wait to see what the next issue of Forbes will say about that.

Fox and Forbes are merely the messengers. If you discard the message because you don't like the messenger, you've missed the point. And if you think that because you baselessly attempt to tarnish the image of the messenger you change the message, you are surely mistaken.

Maybe it's time we gave fascism an honest chance and maybe America is just the country to get it right.
I'll go back to some less weighty thread now.

:rolleyes:FOX is just a different flavor of Kool-Aid.

The problem with the "24 hour news media" (Fox included) is it's no longer about reporting the news. It's all about ratings, viewers, and advertising dollars. Fox panders to a certain niche audience, the rest pander to their niche.

I know the majority of Fox viewers like to say there is some huge media conspiracy, but I find it hard to believe. Because if the other 24 Hour news networks thought they could make more money by pandering to a different niche they would.

No news media outlet provides fair and balanced coverage. As stated earlier, it's about ratings and the almighty dollar. It also has do with the fact that people don't like to think for themselves. Americans, IMHO, like to be told what to think and believe. Actually using the brain to figure something out requires effort.

Don't believe me? How come the marketing department of any corporation is so large?

Look at the votes in the last election. I think the media is pandering to the larger crowd, though I think they created many of them.

I think there is more to it than just ratings, but of course they need to keep those up too.
