Looking for a NEW Sub

Long story short I am looking at a sub-12 and RW10d from Klipsch and a PSW125 from Polk. The room is 13 by 20 feet roughly with 8 foot ceilings.

Secondly, I really don't know if downfiring vs forward firing that one is really better than another.

Thanks in advance.

IMO, there are better subs out there for the money than what Polk and Klipsch offer. Check out subs from SVS, Hsu and Velodyne. What is your max budget? Will this be mainly for movies or music?

We should build a program, where everyone that says they are looking for a sub, gets linked to SVS as soon as they post the question.

Considering i just got my second SVS subwoofer yesterday, i cant help but praise them.

I just got my second PB10-NSD. I sware i almost killed myself moving the thing. I dont remember the my first PB10 weighing so much. Either they are making them heavier or i have just gotten weaker. Believe it or not, i did lift weights for the last two week in anticipation of the subs arrival.

For the amount of output and deep bass it puts out, i cant imagine requiring PB13Ultra.

Well, my budget may be misleading, but I am looking to spend around a $1000 for my speakers, sub, and receiver. Like I said though it is deceiving as I work at a retailer that I get deep discounts on the products. For instance I get Denon receivers for roughly half off.

That is why I mentioned the Klipsch sub. I found this Velodyne CHT-10 on ebay for a good price so far though. If I could spend $200 on the sub or there about that would be in my wallets best interest. I am also buying other speakers for surround and what not so I have to spend wisely. I am willing to buy used if it is Mint condition and no damage.

Let me put it this way.... if I can get a Klipsch sub for roughly half price then it's competition in that price bracket better be really nice for me to consider it. I know there are several SVS and HSU subs that are nice, but $500 for the sub alone is quite expensive.

I owned the Klipsch sub12 for 2 days. If you do a search, you can find my review of it.

The review was only one word so I guess I can just rewrite it.

For $1K, I'd still head over to SVS and take a look at their complete packages, since even with your discount, you probably can't put together a better system than what you will get from them for that price. Since you get the receiver at a discount, wait another month and get one of those packages with your reciever - you won't regret it. $500 is a lot, but I see spending $200 on a sub that isn't nearly as good as a bigger waste of money in the long run. You can buy a partial system from them, like the sub and mains, then add the rest down the road - they usually give a repeat customer discount (they used to, not sure about now).

There are other manufacturers out there who offer great deals as well.

If I could get the 2 mains and a sub for $1000 that is comparable to what a Klipsch setup will sound like then I can wait and get the center and bookshelf speakers down the line.

any suggestions?

Right now the SVS 5.1 package is $100 off.

If you can get a good discount on a receiver, then you won't go over budget too much after paying for shipping/cables/wire. Your room is pretty big, so you may want to go for the 12 inch sub + mains and receiver for now, and get the center/surrounds down the road. Or you could get the 5.1 package now and add a second 10 inch sub later.

Get your speaker wire and cable from www.monoprice.com, most retailers charge way too much.

I completely agree with this... I've gone to that damn site at least 3 times a day for the last week dreaming of a new sub. Love my new speakers... They just make my poor little sub to shame:(:(:( Wish I had enough tax money for a new sub.:rolleyes:
