Speaker question

My current HT setup is a Pioneer VSX-91txh and the Infinity TSS-800's. I have two BA VR30's currently hooked up in my computer room. I've been contemplating moving the Vr30's downstairs and adding them as my two mains and making the current mains the second pair of rear speakers. Just wondering if this would work or if I would run into sound matching issues(maybe not the right term), or if it will even make things sound better?

Anyway any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I'm sure it would work, but seriously...

..how well it works is a quaitative, personal, value judgment. It's not likely that you'll encounter too many people who have these speakers, much less both of them. And, it's even less likely that they would have tried this particular combination.

You are in an enviable position. You currently own all the equipment in question and have the perfect opportunity to answer this question for yourself. All it takes is a little time and effort on your part.

My guess would be that, yes it will improve the sound in the main setup, however as you note, you will likely have a mismatch in timbre up front. Like Markw said though, trying it out will be the best way to find out exactly how it is going to sound.

At your speaker price level. I don't think Timbre matching is all that big of a deal, and I think it will improve your sound. But if you want to really step up consider picking up a pair of Primuses with a Primus center channel. This would match up fairly well with the TSS's IMO.

TSS is a nice small speaker for the price. Better than Bose. Of course around here that doesn't mean a whole lot.

Yeah unfortunately i got sucked in by the infinity name alone. My parents were always into hi fi (where i got the vr30's from) but it's not something i had ever delved too deep into, but then i bought an lcd tv and a ps3. Well naturally i had to add surround sound. I found the tss's on HK's ebay store and got them cheap. This is what launched me into wanting to learn more. Had I gone the other way around I would have definitely gone in a different direction. Anyway I plan to replace the speakers all together eventually but I want to save up and do it right. So I figured the Boston's might give a little help to the sound quality until that day comes.
