Hey, guys.

Well, here's the long and short of it:

I recently ordered an Emotiva UPA-7, and even more recently found $250 I didn't know I had. So, here's my quandry:

I'd like to upgrade to an XPA-5 (which would be about $250 more, plus shipping back the UPA-7), but Ascend Acoustics is also having a B-stock sale on CBM-170 SEs, which I'd like to use to replace my HTM-200 surrounds. This would cost about $250 as well.

So, what's your advice? Which is the better choice? I'm torn!

Here's my system:

Speakers: CMT-340 SE L/C/R, HTM-200 SE Surrounds
Subwoofer: Hsu VTF-2 MK3
Receiver: Yamaha 663
Display: Samsung HS-5086 HDTV

Please let me know soon, as Ascend told me they're running out of B-stock!!!

Thanks so much.

Without hesitation: Get the speakers. The UPA is still one heckuva an amp.

The fact you even ask the question shows you need some training.

Speakers first always!

Your current speakers don't really need any more power than the UPA-7 will deliver. It is highly unlikely that will notice any gain from upgrading the amp.
