How strong is this stuff?

I still have not found a way to prevent my sub from walking, which rattles at loud volumes/low bass.

I was thinking I could just use Blu Tack and adhere the sub to a hunck of flat granite that I have... if the BT is strong enough.

The granite will fit over my gramma pad and then the sub would set on the granite if the BT will hold it.

Thoughts?

IMO, get rid of the granite.

I have used Blu-tack and it won't work for a heavy object, it is like silly putty - it will just become paste. For lighter objects, it works fine.

I don't understand what you are saying. The granite is not in play right now, I was just thinking I could bound the sub to some granite but would not want it permanantly bonded as it would be impossible to lift or move.

If I put the granite on top of the sub, all my issues go away but it looks stupid.

So, you don't need the granite? Do you have the Gramma now and the sub still moves on top of it?

I only need the granite if it solves something which it only does if I place it on top and I don't like the way it looks.

Yes, I have a Gramma now and it moves on top of it.

Well, just any kind of rubber between the sub and the granite should keep it from sliding around I would think, like a thin sheet that was about the size of the granite, but then something like that might work just on top of the Gramma as well.

My sub is farily large and it doesn't move at all on my Gramma.

I think my sub is weighted improperly. It is very heavy in the front and light in the back and I think this causes it to walk from the back.

How about attaching some weight to the back side? Is the amp on the back? Is the amp internal to the sub or external?

Attaching weight to the backside would work but would look bad.

External amp (EP 2500)

If you make whatever it is smaller than the sub (and black or matching veneer), you won't see it. If all else fails, sand fill or lead shot.

Have your wife sit on it during movies. Then after the movie you're pretty much guaranteed to get some.

Hi Greg, I'm wondering if you could put black angled shims under the front legs or the mat to offset / tilt the weight toward the back.
It's like you said, with it being front heavy, that's really helping that thing walk. Just a thought.

Regards,
Rick

Andrew said he has a couple of ideas so I will wait to see what he come up with.

Too bad that you don't have any hockey pucks. ;) :D

I was going to suggest having Andrew get his a** over there to fix it (and the paint/grill), but it sounds like you two have it all worked out. :)

+1

Maybe some adhesive silicone dots from Home Deopt or for they DIY in you, a bicycle inner tube cut into strips and wrasped to increase friction.
