I think that you'd be surprised at just how much power you have. If you thank someone after giving them rep on that post, the thanks doesn't add any more points. However, just speculating based on my guess of how many points you have yourself, I bet that you hand out about 90 points a pop. That is HUGE compared to what people used to hand out, and a real treat to the newbies.

I'll have to find somebody that I can still give rep to without being told to spread it around and have them check a before and after to see how many points I give out. That would satisfy my quotient of useless information for the day.
