Warning Avoid the "Hot Movie Sale" company

Just wanted to put a little fyi out there for you guys if you are using a search engine and come across "HotMovieSale," like if you are searching for a DVD on Nextag. I was getting ready to make a purchase with them for a John Mayer DVD, didn't even complete the purchase but had entered my credit card info and bad things happened. Somehow this company called "smart savings center" got my card info and has been charging me 29.95 per month for three months, plus several $1.00 charges here and there. On top of that they didn't even send me the DVD! I called their customer service today and they said I "signed up" for their "club," by the way I authorized nothing, they refused to remove all of the charges saying that I had used their services for three months, what services? I ended up receiving nothing from them, good or service, and they charged me a bit over $100. I have turned it over to my credit card company as fraud and they said it shouldn't be a problem to take care of because everyone, minus this company, knows a single DVD doesn't cost $100.

I just wanted to let everyone here know about the scam this company is running so you don't have to go through the same thing that I am.

Always google a company before buying. If you have any concerns email them before submitting your credit card information.

Maybe they wanted to teach you a lesson for buying a John Mayer DVD?

Zing.

Just kidding, I hate scumbags like that. They're the lowest of the low.

agreed, I think he's pretty mean on the guitar, but the audio quality is terrible on the disc. A few of the songs are O.K. but for the most part I would rather listen to a CD.

I wonder how many complaints they have with the local BBB

May want to post your experience there too:D

Just thought about this. File a complaint with the county and state Attorney General; put them on notice if they don't know about them yet.

And another

Yeah but I never "submitted" anything. On top of that it isn't even that company charging me the fees, it is another company, I don't know if it is one of their parent companies or what. The fee they charged is also 29.95 per month, and there were several one dollar charges here and there, and they seemed to be increasing each month. I wish I would have caught this sooner. When I get some time at the end of the week I plan on submitting complaints everywhere possible, this is such a shady business.
