second opinion on my setup

I have a Pioneer SX 780 receiver with my computer wired to a Pioneer EQ (SG-9800), the speakers are a pair of Pioneer ProMusic A130s, since google yields nothing for them, they are a 3 way speaker with a 10" woofer, 4" midrange, 3" tweeter. The subs have been replaced with another set of Pioneer subs. It sounds warm in my opinion, but from a model number placement, does this seem ok/decent/sucky?

I've always wondered because it seems ok to me.

It's also all housed in a 12'X10' bedroom.:)

All garage sale/given to me built.

The only thing that should matter is how it sounds to you. If you like it,fine. If not, well then, figure out what the problem is and maybe we can help.

But, rarely does simply dropping a new woofer at random help a system. Speaker systems are engineered so that the woofer (it's NOT a subwoofer), the enclosure, and the crossover all act in concert with each other to maximize the sound.

FWIW, that Pioneer 780 is a mighty fine stereo receiver, even by today's standards.

Honestly I prefer some vintage speakers. I remember the old Fishers. They were very nice. When my parents moved their old technics out of the living room for a sony HtIB I cried inside.

It's such a nice speaker IMO why replace it with junk.

As far as a stereo receiver. I don't think they are made like they used to be. Home theater has improved a lot, but the old stereo receivers were nice. I remember I had one with a tape deck built in and those needles for recording. I actually used to create tapes of my cds for car use. (The last tapes I ever made.:( It was so much fun.

Yeah I have to agree, this one reason why I don't own anything newer then 1985 as far as speakers and stuff goes. The newest thing is a Teac dual cd player(one side records), but thats it. I can't stand today's speakers because they are dry and dull. And if you want good, you pay out the butt for it.

The only reason I would get a newer receiver is because the newer ones balance the power between the sets of speakers. Having 8ohm floor speakers and 4ohm wall mounted speakers kind of stink because the small wall speakers blare out so much.

Anyone know of a good way to clean the levers on my Receiver?

Has anyone used a Pioneer SX205? What are you thoughts on it?

I'm confused. You mention only one set in the first post and then two now? How do the 4 ohm speakers "blare" out? Chances are the 4 ohm are not sounding as good because they require more power to work properly.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. They're a pair of Denon USC-30R. Those sit right between where my computer screen sits mounted on the wall.

My only guess is to why they are louder is because they have less resistance. Their max power is only 30 watts vs. the 45 my pioneer speakers are.
