So we have a 70's-vintage entertainment center that my wife has invested a lot of time in updating (custom drawer front, painted back with a matte cabinet paint that was a huge pain in the tuckus not to mention time consuming project not to mention she nearly ruined my garage

but that is another story...).
Net: I have an old cabinet with limited space. The biggest LCD I can put in there is a 32".
I'm pretty well set on getting the new Samsung LN32B650, which is the 120Hz panel with 1M:1 contrast, etc. The problem is I only have 22.25 inches of height to work with and the TV is 23.7" tall with the stand. Without the stand, it is 21.5".
What I'm thinking is to make a mount out of 1/2" plywood with a low-profile wall mount (since I only have 19" of depth to work with), weighted at the back to offset the ~30lb TV. I'd use metal brackets at the base where I join the front (as many as necessary)
Something like this:
Is this totally crazy? Anyone done something like this?
