Does anyone on this site feel guilty

I would never feel guilty about spending money on something I feel is important to me. Honestly, I couldn't care less about someone else's opinion whether or not my money spent on audio is "worthwhile". It's all subjective.

Most of these purchases will last a life time. The bigger problem is when people spend $2.00+ a day on a cup of joe. That, is a never ending indulgence that will always be a negative in the pocket book. It'll also cost more over a lifetime!
($2.00 per day at 261 days (weekdays only) = $522/year...damn...coffee's expensive at those places!)

Eh, no need to feel "guilty"... My buddy gave me grief last week for buying a GSS Tour Cameron Putter last week. (golfers will know what I'm talking about) and have made some other purchases recently. If you've got the cash, there's really no better time than now to spend it with the deals that can be had. At the end of the day, our "wreckless" spending is whats gonna fix the economy. I'm not doin anybody any favors by rat-holing money. smoke if you got 'em...

For the record, I don't feel guilty either...I started this post to see if anyone else does. Apparently not, even if some of the responses seem a little defensive. Indignant that the question should even be asked. I agree that it doesn't matter what others think about how you spend your money, it only matters what YOU think. That's why I liked the replies about the mental dialogues we have with ourselves when we're spending money in a grocery store vs. buying audio gear.

I'm a multiholic. My budget is limited for audio as I have to split it between my motorcycle, car, electronics, computer, and photography hobbies. My wife and kids are at the top of that list as well.

This hobby or any other is always going to draw looks when you tell people who don't understand about the hobby.Most people go out and buy a entire system from best buy hook it up with the cheapest wire possable and think it sounds good.People like us go out and spend $1000.00 dollars on one component and say now what is my weak link.The general public is not educated in the art of fine audince they sit down and listen to a high end system only then do they know what you are talking about.

My brother isn't that bad, but I know that he doesn't quite understand spending $1400 on a sub, or $2000 on amps. Then again, I don't understand spending $70/plate at a wedding reception, so we're even.

I think that's getting to the heart of the issue...none of my friends or family understand what I get out of listening to great sound, or why I spend the kind of money and time on what it takes to achieve it. Their general attitude about me is that I'm nuts...which may be true.

I think that has less to do with your A/V habits and more to do with the fact that you don't believe in talking snakes. That's like not believing in the trans-dimensional shape-shifting lizards that are controlling the governments of major countries and fabricating wars to keep us humans from discovering the truth. I remember when I was shopping for my gear(1997).I got to know the owner of a little high end audio store in my town and I bet i would spend 3 or 4 hours in that store just listening to music.Then we would tear everything apart change all of the interconnectes or a amp to see if we could tell a diffirence.I've played drums all my life so you can tune your ears and listen.
