Hi. Sorry im making quite a few threads around these forums, but hopefully all my questions will be put into practice soon :D

Im expecting my Infinity Kappa 12 VQ driver tomorrow, and i wont be building the cabinet till mid next week. I was wondering if it is okay to run the driver without a cabinet, and if so, for how long.

Dont want to blow it on the first day

Thanks.

Hook it up to whatever amp you are using and turn the gain all the way down. Using a 15Hz-20Hz sinewave slowly turn the gain up and you can watch the driver move. Don't turn up the gain too much or you will cause over excursion, but there will be some room to turn it up. You have about 17mm of excursion one way to play with. The only reason besides fun to do this is to loosen the suspension some and check if there are any problems for the driver.

Seriously though I have almost the same question,I don't yet have my amp cause I have yet to decide on-board or the B 2500 and my perfects are due to arrive Thursday. What test can I do to make sure that they are fine all I have so far is my receiver/pre (pioneer 1015) my amp-(XPA-5) I have only ten days to return to seller then there is the two year warranty to infinity I'd like to return to seller right away if something is wrong any thoughts..Thanks all.

You can power them with your receiver, but that would striclty be a go, no go test and not one of actual performance.

ZOMG THESE THINGS ARE ******* SEX IN A BOX.

just one thing:

i do hear some mechanical noise at times, when i turn up the gain. Is this what the rockwool is for?
