Please Help me Choose a Subwoofer

I am looking for a efficient subwoofer for my home system either 4 or 8ohm. I am on a budget, my dad says I should get just 1 18 to get me by for now. He recommended a Pyle Pro 18in . I have about 200 dollars to spend. I will be building my own box for it so that is not in the budget. I will be running it on a parasound HCA-855A Amp it only has 100watt/channel. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the info again guys. I was wondering if that would not be a problem. If I were to get another amp any recommendations. I plan on in the future as i slowly build my system to have at least 2 if not 4 subs. I have that parasound amp and a Sunfire Theater Grand Processor 2 for my pre amp. I was told Sunfire also makes a pretty sweet sounding amp.

Ok I just checked out your link on ebay, im not famliar with that amp but it does sound like a power house. But that vendor on ebay has 3 negative in one month, 15 neg in 6 months and 26 in the last year . He does a lot of volume so he does have a lot of positive feedback to . So my question are you willing to gamble? I wouldnt, also if you do make sure you pay with paypal because they will normaly back you up . I sense danger though and wouldnt buy from this guy. One of his customers said he received and item that didnt work and he wasnt responding to his emails . If just thinking about that amp and not buying it from that vendor then thats different . BE CAREFULL!!!

That looks like a pretty good price on that amp, I see it at a lot of sites for about $350 or so. $300 shipped sounds like a good deal.

I see what you are saying on the negitive feedback did not notice it before. I can see paying 50 more dollars for the new one 350 shipped rather than 300 shipped for a gamble. I have read through alot of reviews for this amp and have come up with alot of good feedback. The only this I am worried a little about is fan noise but for the price I think I could fix that. Thanks again guys for all the input. I started off looking for a cheap sub now I am looking at a new amp and a nice sub. I always regret cheaping out and end up spending more money in the end buying better. So I figure its probably best to just get what I want the first time around.

The DIY sub of choice around here is the Kappa Perfect 12.

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45528

Here's a list of DIY sub projects over at the AVS forum:

Some of those projects probably call for a plate amp, but the Behringer will work just fine (better, actually) instead. A good plate amp is going to run you a couple hundred anyway, and the Behringer running in stereo mode blows away any two plate amps you could find for less money.

the dynamo is a nice little musical sub but really doesnt have any low extension. IMO that should be recomended for a small room in a condo... And to say that they sound 3x better than subs at 4x the cost is just ...well down right silly;):rolleyes:

If not the Nynamo any others that you think would be a good option. I am planning on getting a BEHRINGER EP-2500 to power the sub. Just trying to find a good deal on one right now. I am thinking about buying used but i am not sure how long a amp lasts before it burns out.

In that price range for a amp I would go new if you can .
