Yey :D They've arrived.

Arggg.... one is broken :\

The binding post took a beating. At first only the woofer seem to be working, after two cable changes no sound at all.

This cover is made of plastic. Plastic? Oh man, what a way to cut costs

I'm waiting for the seller to say something.
Hey!!! Congrats on your purchase. :) I hope you get many hours of enjoyment out of these. I'm sorry to see the damage. That sucks but hopefully MA will just send you the new plate to save you some shipping costs and time. Keep us posted.

Isn't it great to get so much support from the community? I'm sure I speak for us all when I say, I hope you get many years of good use from them and hope you are delighted with your purchase. If you get a new back plate, that is an easy fix and you have them playing in the mean time, right on!
Do they have enough bass for your liking? Are you using a sub?
I did listen to these after your initial post and liked them very much. I thought they could have more low end, but they were very clear and detailed. I could hear Roger Waters of Pink Floyd taking breaths in "Dark Side of the Moon" that I've never heard before. I LOVE THAT!
You talked about, best you could do for the price. You did very well.
Good listening and let us know how your repair went.
We would indeed like a review of these whether you make a coparison or not.
More info is always better.

For your viewing pleasure, behold the ripped board:

It seems to be made of some kind of paper fibre. These might be cheaper than the plastic ones

This is a iRiver H120. My old and trusted mp3 and flac player playing "I want to break free" on the RS6's LF driver.

With some heat on the joint it flowed down and contact was made again. MF and HF drivers working.

It's not perfect, but I'll wait for the new plate before giving the final touch.
I must have spent 3 hours just listening to different songs and I'm glad to report that I'm more than happy with the results.

I just wonder why MA chose such a bad design from a structural point. The binding posts protrude from the back of the speaker and are mounted on a weak plastic plate. The binding posts are connected to a flat piece of metal that goes to the crossover board.
Seems such a weak design. At least they should have a metal plate to give the plastic one some strength. But I guess this things must happen very rarely. It must have been a rough ride for this speaker.

Yeah, this forum is great :D

As you can see, it was an easy fix.

I'm delighted with them, really am. I was apprehensive before I installed them in my living room. I didn't know if they were going to sound good in the room. Fortunately, they settled very nice. I just have some reflection on my left wall but that was expected.

As for the bass, well, it delivers, for music is enough for me. I plugged the rear ports because the speakers are close to the back wall. For movies it will need a subwoofer.

This weekend I'm going to listen to them without worrying about my neighbors. Monday I'll make a review. But after 3 hours of mostly classical music I am sure that this weekend will be a blast :D

Cut the blue wire. :D

That's a bomb squad joke and it's probably not funny even to people whose main language is English.

I like that design. I know you can't bounce them around but that crossover is very easy to get to. I appreciate the pic's too.

The RS6's really are one of the bargains in audio. Great sound, sexy design, beautiful wood. Congrats!

I've had mine for 3-1/2 years now and am still very happy. Mine are cherry, and my wife still likes 'em.:)

They're very nice, really well finished. My wife still wants the grilles though. I disagree, naturally :D

I've not been able to complete my listening with them, but I already found a limit, of the RS6s or the Yamaha RX-V861.

I played the first scene of Star Wars Episode III, the one with the battle cruisers. My Yamaha was at +5. It was loud, the sofa was vibrating, but the speakers were really struggling in the low frequencies. The rest of the people there just stood in awe, but I noticed that it's just too much for them to handle. But even so, the fact that 2 small towers can do this volume of sound is really amazing. The higher frequencies seemed to hang on just fine though.

This was the first time I was able to listen to such a high volume. It expected it to be more tiring, but there's not any harshness to it. A good pair of speakers beats a poor 5.1 system, no doubt about it :D

I just know it'll be amazing when I get the rest of the system. Can hardly wait.

As for music... I've been revisiting my classical music CDs and I cannot find an emoticon to express my state of awe. I'm in love with the RS6's and Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I even shed a tear while listening to it. Oh my god  This is beautiful.

Right on bro! Add a sub to those babies for movies, and you're set for a while.
I'm jealous.

Congrats! I'm a Monitor Audio Fanboy from way back, BTW!:D In my time I've owned: Bronze 2's, Bronze 3's, Bronze B2's, Silver 7i's, Silver 8i's, a Bronze Center, a Silver Center, Silver FX/i surrounds, Gold Ref 10's, Gold Ref 20's and a Gold Ref Center!:) I just recently purchased some GR60's to replace my 20's, they're en route as we speak!;) I've been consistently pleased and impressed by the sound quality for the money, and especially surprised at the quantity and quality of bass they generate with small enclosures.

Hope they replace them- shipping would suck but you may have them for years, may as well have 'em in mint shape.

Good luck & good listening!:D

Good news, it seems I'll get the full crossover, instead of just the plastic cover :D
This way I'll have a pristine speaker, with absolutely no damage.
This also means that I'll have more soldering to do, it's a good thing, it strengthens my ego :D

And my wife agrees on getting a more powerful receiver than the current RX-V861. She's the best :D

I received a new crossover module a few days after my last message. Haven't installed it yet though. I'll do it one of these days :D Not really in a rush, the fixed crossover is working flawlessly.

I'm very happy with the RS6s. The icing on the cake is the finish, it matches the texture of my furniture. Just noticed it yesterday. My wife is very pleased :D

I've already ordered the RS LCR from the same seller. He seems alright :D
Next month I'll get the rears after we decide on the RS1s or the RSFXs.

Very good. I'm glad to hear your seller took care of you. I only heard those once about a year ago. Do they have enough bass for rock without a sub? You bought some great speakers.
Congrats.

I would say yes, at least with Queen's "We will rock you", among others (Metallica, Guitar Hero III soundtrack and Dire Straits were my last listenings).
But that will depend on what you mean with "enough". And I have not installed and integrated a sub, maybe it will be even better.

For movies, definitely not enough.

I myself am so glad to hear someone say this. I have been preaching this to people for a long time. Some people just don't understand.

That's funny, I myself may or may not have done the same thing today while auditioning some Focal's. Which I bought though they had to be ordered.

But glad to see your happy with your purchase. I will tell you like someone told me yesterday, 'I can hear the excitement in your voice'. It is most awesome to finally come to fruition with something you have dreamed about and researched for a long time. With 12 hour days of investigating and learning not so uncommon.

I can't wait to get mine. I hope MA takes care of you.

Good luck and more importantly have fun.:D:cool:

It's threads like this and gixxerific's that make me want new speakers.
I need one of the mods to close and delete it.
It's for the best. :D

Actually I was/am pretty happy with what I am listening to but a brief listen to something better really made me kind of weak in the knees. There is a real art to enjoying what you have/can afford without wasting your time wanting what you can't have (yet:cool:). I think I'll avoid audio stores like the plague and it's good to see that both you guys are diggin' what you got. :)

That's why I Do it myself. Then it takes a lot longer to upgrade and do things. And the feeling of a new toy is stretched out much longer.
