I have ready a few threads and was wondering why people recommend doing a hard reset on a brand new product? What does it do for you and what benefits come from it. I have a brand new Denon and i did not do a hard reset on it yet and was wondering if i would need to do so.

A hard reset is normally done on a product that has soms issues and the normal "fixes" don't solve the issue. So as a last resort some people have had luck by doing a hard reset. You have to remember that most current recievers are alot like computers and when your computer fails on you, you have to reset it to get it working again.

It was recommended by a Denon phone support tech. It has a processor, so it's not a bad idea. The firmware update was definitely recommended, too.
