Warp pushes his system like a little girl compared to me so I am not worried about the amp. He probably used somewhere around 3 watts and I have already caught the thing on fire 2 times. I mean lets look at the blown woofer tally:

Dawg- 3

Warp- 0

It is obvious that he is scared.
So you are saying you are a Woofer Blower?

We better watch what we do around here ;)!

The 100's like a lot of power so if you can still switch out for a 1095 at a good price it may be worth doing.

If you biamp with a bunch of different amps and external crossovers, it could make a big difference. If you passive biamp you probably won't gain anything.
I switched from the Emotiva to the Rotel 1075! Now I am debating whether to return that for the 1095! I am pushing Studio 100s v.4.

Is the 1075 enough???? Would there be a sound quality difference with the 1095? What about bi- amping?

If I remember correctly, I am using one cable from MonoPrice, 3 from RadioShack and 2 from Monster Cable.

Hey, it's what I had left over in my storage box.:D
If it works for you without hum and such, I am sure the monoprice ones will be fine. I have some "THX" monsters that would work but I hate them because the connectors are too fat so they strain the jacks on the receiver. Thanks!

Hey strube, why are you looking for a new amp? Are you thinking that your current model can't power your speakers in your room well enough?

if it's for new codecs, you could get an entry/mid level receiver, and use that as a pre/pro to your beefy rotel.

savings might be better spent on room treatments. after all, it IS a dedicated room, and you don't have any yet? or do you . . .

just throwing out my present thoughts that just hit me.

now, if you were PD, or someone else, I just get out of the way, and let them help our economy out. But I remember even when you were eyeing an $80 remote, you were trying to wait until the next month to pay off bills or something. just want to make sure, help you out define where money is best spent.

good luck!

Your concern is certainly reasonable.

The amp is a combination of celebration, and sort of the first piece to a new setup in a new place, actually. My lady friend just got a great job offer, which is amazing in its own right for these tough times, and I *should* have my own offer within the week. We will probably be moving to the desert, so I sold my snowmobile for not much less than I bought it for, and we are saving 1/2 of that and spending the other :D.

It may be a little silly to start with the amp (especially since it is extreme overkill for my current speakers - my current AVR doe just fine), but it seemed to fit the bill when my fiancee came to me and said, "You really want to buy something don't you, since you had to sell your other toy? Well I think it would be okay as long as you buy something (within reason) that isn't going to be a nightmare to move and doesn't have the possibility of being obsolete in a year."

I didn't want to do room treatments to the HT because we will be moving in a matter of months, and the house that I am renting will be passed on to my sister and cousin, as will the HT room, though they will not have as nice of gear in it :). It has not been determined whether the PJ and screen will stay or leave, we will have to work that out soon. I had thought about doing speakers first, but I decided I would rather move 1 75lb amp than 3 100+lb speakers, and I wanted an amp that would be perfectly capable with most any speaker system. The next model year of AVRs will be out for pre/pro purposes by the time we are ready to make the move on that too.

After we move and save for a little while, we will be ready for the next step, whatever that may be. Needless to say, I am so ready to be done with school and moving on to new things. :D

So, I should see if they can change my username to "The Waffler." I talked myself out of the amp purchase right now after Jostenmeat planted a seed of doubt in my head :D. The reason being is that my little Paradigm speakers aren't hungry for more power at all, and the Rotel does just fine. I won't be buying new speakers until I move and have some salary coming in for a few months, at which point I will probably buy a Studio v.5 100 5 or 7 channel system and an amp (probably still the 1095 unless something changes) to power them properly. The fact is that I probably would not see any benefit at all from the new amp until I upgraded my speakers.

I instead decided I could get real benefit right now (and still satisfy the same arguments I was making for myself about the amp as far as moving is concerned) with a new AVR. I ordered a 3808CI to get some Audyssey and HDMI switching action. The Audyssey MultiEQ is what I am most excited to use. I will still use the Rotel RSX-1065 as an amp section, as I feel it is still superior to the amp in the Denon, and just use the Denon as the pre/pro.

Chances are I will keep the Rotel AVR for a long time, and just have more than one system after I upgrade my primary one, just because it is freaking awesome :D.

Man, I never even looked at what speakers you are driving. You probably made the right choice, I love the 3808.

On second thought, I think I will have my girl help me with a double-blind test on the amp sections. The Rotel doesn't actually weigh that much more than the Denon - 44.9lb vs 39.2lb, the Denon is rated 30 watts higher per channel in power, and the THD is the same for both...

In the case that I don't notice the difference, I might move the Rotel upstairs and get rid of that "old" Denon AVR-686...

Why not an Emotiva

Paradigm,

Why would you never purchase another Emotiva product? The reviews of them are very good on this site and elsewhere. I just received the Emotiva XPA-2 today, hooked it up to my B&W 802's. It's a huge improvement. I'm happy and for the price, I'm very happy.

I take it you had some bad experiences with their products?

And I would never buy another EMO product.....

I have had a bad experience with them, I don't want to go into it but you can find it if you do a search on here. Many, many guys on here, have them and love them and you can't beat the price, it's just not for me. I sold my MPS two weeks ago and the buyer is quite happy so it all worked out.

Amp

I Was Going To Go With Rotel As I Own B&w Speakers Who Owns Rotel So The Sound Match Is Excellent.

But Bottom Line The Emotiva Amps Are The Best For The Money!

Aim Running An Integra 7.9 With The Xpa-3 Powering My 803ds & Htm2d Center.

I am of the mind that if I pay any amount of money for anything, I don't want to have problems with it. Granted, a failure can occur now and then and I am all for saving some cash, but from what I have heard from only a handful of people on issues with Emotiva quality, and similarly, Onkyo/Integra quality and customer service, and I will probably never buy either of these brands. Maybe I am a quality-control and customer service elitist, but so be it. When I buy an amp, the only ID I will consider is Outlaw, because I have never heard a bad word about their amps, but I will probably go with Rotel, because I haven't heard anything bad, but I also have great experience with their products already. :)

I just saw this thread for the first time and read all the way through it. It was an emotional roller coaster. I got all excited that you were going to go buy that Rotel, you put in an "EDIT: Woohoo!" which made me think that you got the offer accepted, and them...BAM...you decide not to get it. Talk about an emotional crash on my part. :D

Yeah, sorry. I blame Jostenmeat for being the voice of reason, and my over-analytical mind for agreeing! :D

In the end, what I really want is the Rotel amp and some Studio 100's and their matching surrounds (my dealer has some he really wants to get rid of), but if I am going to be moving in a few months, it just doesn't make much sense to spend that kind of money and get that amount of heavy stuff to move. I don't have a job yet - I would be spending moving and potential house-down payment money. Why won't they call me back? They have called my fiancee twice now! I (will) have 3 engineering degrees!! Rarness !!

I bet that you weigh more than that Rotel, but yet you're willing to move yourself.

Go buy it.
