Whoa...I guess that's why their old site seemed to be in permanent hibernation. That's quite an overhaul - both website and product-wise.

Looks like they went with a slot ported design on the new subs.

Matt, do you by any chance know if there are any pros/cons to slot ports, as opposed to the regular type? Is there more chance of port noise/chuffing, if only due to the corners on a slot port? just curious . . .

Slot ported subwoofers allow for a larger port cross section in a smaller space. This means air velocity will be lower allowing for increased excursion before the port limits output. Properly done there will be no chuffing issues with a slot port, but if made too long port resonance can be an issue.

I think it's more personal preference than anything. A slot port will allow you to build a overall smaller enclosure but if both round port and slot are executed properly I don't believe there is a clear benefit to one or another.

Well, now we all know what Chad has been up to. By the look of things, he has been real busy. My guess is, Chad is going to be quite popular here and on other forums. Looking great Chad-keep up the good work. Kudos to you for doing so. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

Yes, and I will be selling my 3 month old HSU 3.3 and getting either the Dragon or the Phoenix. The best part is that I live 5 minutes away from Epik :D

"That’s how it achieves the absolute lowest bass performance possible."

I just got a little chuckle out of this. It is from the Dynasty description. Out of context, and without one's knowledge of such things, it wouldn't be a great advertisement for something. :D

Maybe it should say "lowest frequency response possible" or something.
