Hey guys. I will be picking up a pair of dipoles from davidtwotrees and am not sure where or how to mount the right surround.

Kind of a trickey room that I have for the surrounds as I have an open wall on one side. I am planning on putting the left one of the wall, but if I put the right one on the wall will it be too far forward?

Please give me a hand with this and provide some suggestions.

No ideas?

I was thinking maybe a speaker stand or something but that would look rather awkward wouldn't it?

I would love to put it on the wall but is it too far forward?

Speaker stand won't work really, because the idea behind a bi/dipole is that you can bounce the sound off both side walls.

The real issue is that you sit against the wall, sort of defeating the purpose of bi/dipole surrounds, because if you mount them along side the listening position, they are too close to the back wall to give you any reflections. In which case, I would say you might be better off with them mounted slightly in front of you - though not ideal. You could also mount them above your couch one the back wall, toward either side of the couch so that they fire out into the room and still give you a bit of a null at the listening position.

I like Mordaunt Short speakers.

Thanks J

I actually wasn't planning on picking up surrounds for this room but there was a deal on here and it looked good.

So you think I could get away with putting it in front of the opening?

Is it possible to reverse the room?

At this point no. I have already run Cat5 and coax to that location.......hmm.......I guess I could try it though. My girlfriend does have to work tonight for quite a few hours....could turn it into a nice little project. :)
