Ugh, I get the Tiger Direct newsletter...all I can say is you DO get what you pay for. I-Inc...lol! I love all these off-brands we get. I use a Samsung 24" 244T, a rather pricey monitor when new but I stand by my prior statement. This monitor uses S-PVA technology whereas Tiger sells nothing but cheapo TN panels. I won't go into complexities, but TN panel has horrible viewing angles and is notorious for color shift when you tilt your head and commonly only displays 16.2 million colors and stretches to produce the remaing .5 million colors to make it 16.7 million. Good monitors are true 16.7 million.
I was a die-hard CRT fanatic and I wasn't going to buy an LCD unless it was perfect - I can honestly say this monitor is perfect. No backlight bleed, no color shift, great contrast, great stand which goes up and down a lot, tilt, swivel, pivot (ridiculous!); great response rate (I love how all these companies on Tiger and whatnot totally lie about their specs, like these 2 MS response times and the 10,000:1 contrast ratios for like $190...LOL if you believe that I've got some nice Digital Audio speakers for you too!!). But I'm not trying to sell my monitor or anything like that, just the experience of an extremely picky person. I purchased about five TVs and returned most due to something that bothered me until I found this Panasonic which I love. I did tons of research before I bought this monitor as well.
Office Max used to have a great deal some time back for a 24" monitor that was only $250 and it was S-PVA technology - this stuff is what makes the colors not shift horribly and look good when viewed from any angle among other things. S-IPS is truly the best for accurate colors and viewing angles - Apple uses it in their outrageously priced monitors which is part of their high cost.
Additionally, why brag about 1080p? 1080p is merely the latter number in the resolution. I'd be angry if I bought a 25" that wasn't 1920 x 1200 native - 1200 > 1080p and still capable of that high definition image (superior actually). But sometimes brand doesn't matter, other times it does - with all my being I can safely recommend avoiding Acer monitors, they make very cheap stuff. I tested their monitors at several retailers near here (not cheap monitors mind you either) and ALL of them had severe backlight bleed. Some people get lucky and get a good one but Acer has very hit and miss quality - Gateway and Dell are culprits of this as well. A shame these companies don't take a greater interest, but with mindless sheep buying their very low quality monitors and raving about the "quality" it's no wonder...
Well, that was my little rant/advice for what it's worth.
