Which do you folks prefer?

I will be sitting about 7'-10' away. Kids, maybe 4'

right on. Resolution and display size aren't everything. Contrast, black levels, etc are often overlooked. That being said, I believe Tom Andry once said "No one ever wished they would have bought a smaller display" (or something like that).

I had the 42pg20 for a while. It is a really nice TV with an ok picture but it is very prone to image retention. The warning before movie previews would show on a black screen after 5 seconds. You will need to be constantly aware of the picture to avoid it. Pray that Sponge Bob isn't paused and left on the screen for an extended period of time. Great TV but you have to be careful.

I have the 42PX80U and it is a phenomenal TV for the price. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It's actually a 768p panel and image retention is practically non-existent - I've only had one slight episode when I left my DVR on pause for about a half-hour while putting my son to bed. I ran the white bar sweep for a minute or so and it was gone. They are in short supply so if you want one grab it now.
