Nice you guys. Funny pic Dawg of your little dog. She should be afraid; very afraid.

That is a nice looking amp there Warp. I didn't realize those had 2 power cords. I thought due to their efficiency the pulled less voltage. I'll have to look that up later. When are you picking up the Integra?

I'm glad all three of you got your stuff with no damage. A good day for UPS was a good day for you.

Off to go workout. Be back later. And I want to hear thoughts and opinions of your new stuff!

I thought I got a 4 channel amp for awhile there. I could not get my surround right to work and it passed the battery test. Started working after I disconnected the pre-out from the AVR and reconnected it.

Took me forever to rerun my wires but they are a little better now.

Hehehhe I had the same problem with my outputs, although I thought I got a full blown 0 channel amp...

I had the output set to an output that didn't have the preouts switched on, after turning it on and off a couple of times system reset itself and all was good.

I really really have to clean up my mess of wires and start labeling things back there.... Didn't get the 9.9, but I stopped by my dealer to check out the Marantz 8003, he is much closer and I had more time to do so... Still haven't made a full decision on either unit as they both have their plus's and negatives.

Remember I need 2 PreAmps of what ever I choose, so it has to be the right choice for future, I guess we'll see how things pan out....

Dawg and Warp,

First and foremost - congrats on your new gear!!! Those amps look awesome, and I bet that they sound just as good.

Second - eff you both! :D I want both of those amps.

Nice toys guys. I'm glad to see everything worked out for everybody. One thing is glaringly wrong though. Greg, do you see those unused inputs on the back of the new Rotel??? Those are balanced inputs and they demand that you upgrade to a Pre/Pro that has balanced outputs to feed them. Really, it's just one more little upgrade...it'll hardly cost a thing...why have them if you're not going to use them...c'mon, you know deep down that you really want to do it.:D

It sucks man.......

I have to have a few days with my toys before I can decide if the upgrade was worth it or not. I don't expect to really hear a difference between this amp and my last one. Peace of mind is what I got from the Rotel vs. Emo and I love the looks of it. It is so big! (I hear that a lot:eek:)
Greg - how are you liking the Rotel?

I can't begin to tell you how big and heavy that amp is if no-one has ever dealt with one.... Just awkward to move around.... I always loved the mating of the Studio's with the Rotel, never had any issues or complaints with regard to SQ... always just smooth to me...

No need for Balanced unless your source is truly balanced, I don't even know if the Rotel is truly balanced.

I went to look at the Marantz 8003 as a replacement for my receivers, to finally make the move to true separates.... It states "balanced" has XLR outputs and low and behold, I pulled the plug out of the back of the unit, and no ground on the plug, just 2 prong. There are other issues that I am holding off on getting a prepro at this time until something better comes out.

I am a pretty darn fit and strong guy and I had trouble pulling that thing out of the box and slapping it in the credenza by myself. I love the pure size of this thing, it just looks mean, nasty and sweet at the same time.

It is all calibrated and ready for audition, just didn't have time last night and I was tired. When I am tired, I don't hear the same as when I am fresh so we will know my thoughts later tonight or tomorrow.

Yep, there is not a pre/pro on the market that I am impressed with right now. An AVR may always "stand-in" for me.

Did I tell you - you would love the wheels they have built into the bottom in the rear of the unit... 2 little rollers that when you elevate the front you can just roll the thing around on the ground. :D

Its just a monsterous amp, no question about it. It will get you working pretty hard to get it in place, without destroying your console... When I said "I put it in the console 2 years ago and it hasn't moved since !!" you can easily understand I had no intentions of revisiting the movement of that beast... :)

The 12v trigger out should turn on my SMS-1...correct? I set the 12v. on in the set up menu of the SMS but it say's "awaiting 12v. signal" on the OSD.

I have a gut that I pulled a wires loose on the SMS as my cable was short and I was pulling the crap out of it. Dread getting back there again to check.

Yes, I had the 12v trigger going into the Rotel, and then out to turn on my SMS as well... worked perfectly. I assume that the trigger is turning on the Rotel..?

Makes me very glad I have my console angled in the corner. Plenty of room back there...

Well, I didn't have an owner's manual but I was able to figure out the 1 button on the front and the 2 on the back;):p

Mini-review:

So far...awesome. 'Effortless' is a very good summary on this amp.

Does it power my speakers better than the MPS-1.....Nope

Is it exactly what I was looking for to fill that hole....Yep

Do I finally have the amp I always wanted....You bet
