not sure this is right forum, but ... thoughts on:

Grado SR60 vs. SENNHEISER HD 280PRO?

seem to be in same price range, same weight, similar class-- anybody heard both of them?

I have SR-80's and PRO 280's and between the two I'd go got the Grados.

Why did you choose the cables forum for this? There seem to be many others that would have been more appropiate.

thanks-- good to know. am leaning that way.

As for the forum, this seemed like the catch-all for random accessories. guess i could have gone generalAV or amps, but ...

Other headphones you might want to consider within your price bracket is the Shure SRH440 (closed), Audio Technica ATH AD700 (open), Audio Technica ATH M50 (closed) and the Alessandro MS1 (open).

Have fun shopping!

I have both. I use both regularly. Grados sound a little better (although the Senns have more bass extension). The biggest difference is the Senns are a sealed design, and really block out the noise - they're also bulkier/heavier than the Grados. The Grados are lighter and open design - so they do little to block out outside noise.

I wrote out pretty much this same paragraph already today. Maybe I should keep the text handy to cut 'n' paste?

Good advice zhimbo. When comparing open to closed headphones I pretty much always like the open style headphone better. Open headphones just sound more natural to me. On the other hand if you want to limit sound leaking out and in, a closed model is a must.
