Amongst other things I picked up at circuit city today I grabbed a cinemaVU high definition digital video recorder.... the model is listed as AVHD-80.... the website on the label is invalid, company indigita

Anyone know anything about these? I only spent $10 on it so if all else fails I can probably use the hard drive.... It has 2x firewire connectors on the back

From what I can find, it looks like it should be able to capture video from a cable box with the firewire port enabled, but that's about all I can find.

CinemaVu AVHD-80

I picked up a demo unit from Circuit City as they are on the last day in my area :( . I saw this unit, but it does not have a remote or anything. I dug around in a few boxes and could not find one. This unit looks interesting, but there is not any information out there on it. A blog I read said the company got purchased, the label is a marketing-front for the old company, etc.
Could someone tell how it works (basic) and do you have to have the remote to make it work? Does it have on-screen programing features, etc?
Any information is more than what I have now. Thanks in advance for the information. :)

I would contact the company about getting a manual and replacement remote. If they won't buy a Harmony remote, I bet they will have the remote codes that you can then upload to the Harmony remote to control it.

Thanks for your response, but the problem is the company is no longer 'out there' in virtual or real space. Here is the scoop for this mystery: from the label on the device it states, Model # AVHD-80, Serial # (mine is 3307), Ordering information says: Indigita.com (which seems to be a Real Estate company). The name on the front says CinemaVu (tm). After some searching of blogs, some say all of this was a front company and Intellisys bought them out. However, searching many pages in Google under Intellisys, I could not find anything stating they bought anyone related to my product. This conundrum is why if someone had a manual, or a remote, maybe something on those could help.
I took the cover off the unit and it has an 80GB Maxtor hard drive, a small power supply that produces +12V, +5V and -12V dc, and the interface PCB for two ports for firewire. Taking the front panel off, there are 5 LED's on a PCB, but I did NOT see any IR receiver used for a remote. All the wires going to the front panel accounted for one ground wire and 5 LED's (6 wires). The PCB has a controller chip made by, guess who , "INDIGITA Corporation". So this mystery is deeper than I thought it would be and is why I was hoping someone with a manual could help me out.
Anyway, I do appreciate your feedback and if you hear of anything, please drop me a line.

this unit is controled via the remote on the Mistubishi tv on video part of remote. like most 1394 cotroled device you can trol them via 1394, so if you have a tv with a 1394 or firewire port you can record with the device.:D
