So I Washed My Phone Again

I could use some help picking out a phone. I'm a Nokia fan and not too terribly worried about initial cost. My problem with something like the G-1 is the additional monthly charge to make it even be a phone. It seems to me like I already pay enough every month for phone service.

I heard that the 6133 was a pretty tough phone, tougher than the 6263.
These are free.

The 7510 seems like a pretty well thought out contraption. The flip allows the numbers to be large and the screen is protected. I think the external time display is useful too. This one works out to $50 after a $50 rebate.

I'm not sure what 3G is and what web browsing would do for me. I don't text. Music and stereo bluetooth might interest me. I have never had a camera phone. So help me pick a phone. :)

I HATE when I do stuff like that.
I washed my iPod shuffle a few months ago and it still works, but only holds a charge for about an hour. It’s frustrating when I get at the gym and realize its dead again.

I'll bet your voice sounds really clear now.:D

Have you tried to take the battery out and dry it? Or are you past that and want a new phone?

My phone is three years old, so I'm kinda out of the loop as far as new stuff.

I'm not even going to ask you what color you want...:D

Last thing I washed on accident was my Benchmade knife...nothing a little oil couldn't fix. Can't say I've ever washed by cellphone.:D

What's nice about flip phones is that you won't ever accidentally call someone unintentionally, unknowingly.

I only used Nokia for a very long time, very reliable. They only make cell phones, period. Can't say that about LG, Samsung, Motorola, etc.

I had one for a very long time, as I tend to keep stuff forever. I went through three batteries before deciding to upgrade on my last one.

did you try soaking the phone in alcohol? I've heard that works decent since the alcohol displaces the water then evaporates. I tried it once, and it didn't work, but that could have been due to the fact I'm believed someone else's internet based malarkey. ;)

Just drying it like Rick said has worked on two phones for me. No need for further soaking.

I too have always used the Nokias. The guy at the store seemed to know his phones pretty well and sort of nudged me toward the Nokia. I might even learn to rip CD's and download them onto the phone so that when I get my ever widening smoke free self over to a gymn I will have tunes.

Oh, and thanks for breaking my balls.
I really enjoyed that. :D
Even my girlfriend got a kick out of that.

Sometimes drying will work. I washed AND dried my iPod and it still worked once it dried out.

Ever thought about insuring your phone? A couple of bucks a month gets you a brand new phone when you (or in my case my son) do things like that :)

If you don't text, you don't need anything fancy :)

The insurance is like $4/month. In the past 6 years or so I have spent $57 out of pocket on replacement phones (this one). The insurance would have cost me $288 and even then there is a deductible and batteries are not insured. The washed and dried phones work 'okay'. I think the listening voice quality suffers. That little speaker either doesn't like the washer or the drier but it is totally usable. It actually rang while I was folding my pants right out of the drier.:D I knew right away that something was amiss but I'm pretty smart like that.

I have three phones on a family plan. One of them is not under contract so if I have another accident I can still get one more at full discount. That's insurance enough for me.

I think I just realized what that wi-fi calling is good for as I'm going to a place with no reception right now.

If you want a brand new phone and you are mid-contract, the insurance ends up being a lot cheaper. I have never had insurance on my phone, and I have never had to make a claim on mine, but both of the kids do.

I washed my LG-9800VX twice.

The trick is take it apart as much as you can.

Set your oven on "warm" or about 150 degrees.

Leave the phone in there at least 24 hours before powering it up.

OP seriously , i just had to get a new cell phone yesterday (didn't have a personal one; use to use my company phone).

Got an LG VX5500, very nice basic flip phone.

They probably meant rubbing alcohol, not malt liquor. :p
