Do you mind turning that down?

More excuses for sound treatment I hear?
I'm gonna have to fill half my livingroom with treatments to have much effect. I have a huge spike at 52Hz thats a real challenge to treat.

Adam you need to get 4 bigger subs

I live in a house, and my neighbor next door has knowingly bugged me for over eight years by running his hot tub 12 hours a day (two hours on, two hours off...all day), and the "lady" behind me runs her loud pool filter all day long.

So...Stop! Hammer Time! :D

Seriously, though, I try to be considerate. I shut my windows before I play anything that could be heard outside, and I don't crank it late at night. But, because of what I mentioned above, I don't really worry about it too much.

You need to even out the hot tub and pool filter noise . It is a little pricey but get four GOTHAM g213s :D

I mentioned it here a while ago, but my original plan was to invest in an audio spotlight (using hypersonic speakers) and pinpoint noise directly at his head. I couldn't decide between piercing screams or a demon voice giving him instructions. I probably would have settled on a combination of the two.

Now that I sleep on the floors in my living room and hall, I can't really hear it...so I can sleep. When I was getting two hours of sleep a night because the thing would wake me up and keep me awake...well, the red dude on my left shoulder had a bit more sway on my thoughts. :)

If you're playing your sub loud enough your neighbours can hear it, you're playing it too loud.
WTH are you talking about !?!? it doesn't sound good if it doesn't HIT ! ... i want to slam the living crap out of my neighbors ! BUT, at the same time. i want them to know that i care about disturbing them. SO, i only do it one time a week (rarely 2 times a week). and they know this.
its all about getting along. i do things for them, they let me do things to them.
heck, if one of my neighbors had one of those KILLER DIY subs, i would tell them to crank it as much as they wanted. as long as they were reasonable about it = not all the time, or late at night.

I think I just underestimated how powerful my sub is. My DIY kappa 12.1 is my first "real" sub. Also, the homes in my neighborhood are very well insulated. We live right next to the railroad tracks, and during the winter when the house is closed up, we can barely hear the train inside the house. I was quite surprised that my sub would bother the neighbor knowing how soundproof my home is.

If you were my neighbour, the cops would have showed up at my door asking me where I dumped the body.

Wow, you have problems. If someone makes noise it upsets you that badly? I bet lawn mowers would really get to you, they're loud.
Seriously I don't ever play anything with the intention of bothering anyone. I didn't build my system for anyone but myself. I also understand that my neighbors don't want to hear it.
Take a deep breath, refocus your energy, and move to the countryside if people making noise gives you homicidal thoughts.
Also, I hear there's a great knitting forum that may be more to your liking, very quiet.

I have a great sense of humor. Your remark about killing someone was out of line. As far as "trolling" goes, you're in a thread about subwoofers and threatening people over noise. *Pot meet kettle*

Nah, I am actually a great neighbor. And an excellent cook, which goes a long way for point #1. *Bribes neighbors with delicious BBQ*:D

Back on "sub"ject

I actually go to great lengths to not annoy my neighbors. Heck, I even wait for my neighbors to leave before watching movies, and I live in a house. I couldn't imagine living in an apartment and owning a nice system.

I even carry my trash can up my driveway instead of rolling it so it doesnt rattle and echo. Hopefully that will make up for the rare occasions when my HT system is cranked up a little more than normal. Im in a house but there pretty close together. So far so good knock on wood and its been over 4 years no complaints but then again my new sub is do any day now  As you can see my neighbors are pretty close so my volume does go down after 10

Invite them over for movie night. Then you'll have little to worry about. By the way, the pic in your sig has me wanting to get the bike out and ride! Too bad it's winter.
