I'm not trying to stop you from returning it, but we might just be able to get this to work for you. You just mentioned a Kenwood receiver, but I thought that you were using a Yamaha RX-V663 (stated in your first post). Let me know which it is, and we can figure out why you aren't getting audio or video over HDMI.
Regarding the internet connection, your hub (I'm guessing it's a router) may very well be providing a static IP address to your blu-ray player. If so, that would explain why it doesn't work when you tell it that you have a dynamic IP address. I'm no guru on figuring out the static IP address from a router that isn't my own, but I have some ideas. If you a computer that you can plug into that port (desktop or laptop) that is running Windows, then we can get that IP address no problem. Just let me know.
