Difficulty focusing on LCD images

I've got a Sharp LC19D1E-BK connected to a PS3 via HDMI. The TV is perfectly fine for films (DVD) and TV but when I try to play games I find it really difficult to focus on the image. I've tried adjusting the backlight, brightness, colour, contrast, sharpness, tint and colour temp. schemes but nothing really helps. I can notice the different effect each setting has but the game image is still difficult to focus on. If I take my glasses off it's slightly better but I have to sit much closer to my screen in order to see everything which really hurts my eyes.

Is this a common problem? Does anyone know how to get around this?

That's the reason 120Hz screens exist. The refresh rate is slower than other screen types and with motion, it's more obvious, especially on larger screens. CG images and pixels vs lines of resolution.

Didn't know that. Any recommendations for 120hz displays, around 22"s?

edit: I'm having difficulty finding any 120hz monitors, I don't know if there are any on the market. Is there anything between 60hz and 120hz that would solve my problem or will I have to wait?

Distance can be your friend. Playing the game on a larger display from greater distance can minimize motion blur and other artifacts. Ultimately, I think this is something that will require you to see, on different models. I would think a gamer's blog would be a good way to find this.

You're right, next weekend I'll visit some stores and see what I can find. Until then I'm trying to compile a list of posiibles.

Went to Richer Sounds today, picked up a Samsung T200HD (£230, £253 with 5yr warranty). I've only been using it for an hour or so but the difference is huge. Miles better for gaming, better sound, better picture quality. It doesn't feel as well designed and it's not as thin but it's definitely the better TV.

Thank you for all the help.
