Never mind, I was looking at a good price they had on the Velodyne SMS-1 but now I see everyone has them marked down to $399 so I will just use someone I know.

Why an SMS-1? Can't Andrew set you up with one of the Behringer units and a proper in-room EQ?

He likes pushing all the flashing buttons and then erasing the preset memory I made for him :D.

Oh, the Dawg is misbehaving again? I know just the guy...

heehee. btw, PD, the $400 pricing is everywhere; I think it was Velodyne's choice, or at least someone stated it as so. I'm still waiting on the SVS ASEQ1 before making any kind of decision.

i've personally seen the EQ1 at work :)

pros:
discrete two sub control
it will fix the phase of both subs
reliable auto EQ
high res graph
multiple seat EQ

cons:
you need a PC or laptop
related to the above - no OSD
price

me likey. because fixing the phase on multiple subs in a room is a witch.

Thanks Mike. :)

I've been curious about getting a cheap laptop, if only to improve acoustics! I still haven't asked how much an Audyssey Pro installer kit costs, but I think I can get them to sell me one. At least that's what Chris the founder said I could do. OTOH, they won't agree to train me since, well, I'm not a pro. :(

But, nothing doing yet. My Onkyo 805 is not Pro capable.

psst, any idea on price?

i don't have an updated price - im sure there was a 99 at the end :D 799 or 699 thereabouts? (i hope they can bring down the price)

added a pro to my post above:
multiple EQ'ed seats

but i didn't care about that one, because im sitting on the money seat :D

I actually sent my DCX back. I just found it stressful to use and that's the last thing I want when playing with my gear as it is supposed to be a time to relax. I am sure hooking it to a laptop would have made all the difference but I can't download programs onto mine as it belongs to the company I work for.

I was going to hold out for the SVS Audessy thing but at $399, the SMS became a buy.

Crap, speedy service but they sent it via Fed-Ex with sig required. I really should go do some work but I want to get this thing on the first delivery attempt. What to do, what to do....

It's here....

First thing I have to mention is how well this thing is packaged. The device itself is only 17w x 6d x 2h so I was surprised to see such a big box delivered. Once I tore into it, I found it was triple boxed and plenty of padding. The mic also has a hard case for storage.

It also came with assorted cables to hook up the display along with the remote and mic stand.

Now I just need to get it hooked up, calibrated and hidden.

Ok, I have no idea what I am doing and none of you guys are joining in. You have forced me to get the manual out of the box. I guess I will read it and then post questions on a new thread.
