Glenn's custom panels

Hey guys,

So I am moving into my new place and wanted to custom build my own panels. This is something that would be pretty hard to DYI yourself, but it can be done. You have to upholster it to the frame if you want it to look right (IMO). The printing is called dye sublimation printing which prints on the fibers which keeps the fabric opened celled (very important).

ENJOY!!!

That is very cool and you appear to be very happy about the results. I saw that there was a good bit of info on the net regarding dye sublimation printing. I didn't read it yet but it didn't seem to address where you could get it done.

Acoustic treatments that double as art are very high on my list of AV interests. Only competing components I can think of are RC for the stereo, and outboard VP for the HT.

But to have 3 in a row like that is just too cool. I'd probably get two sets of three, if they were available. I'd like to absorb the back wall, where I have a painting. For my closer sidewall in my asymmetrical LR, I temporarily prop a beefy 30lb treatment on its side on top of couch back, then remove it if I'm entertaining.

More info please! Will check website shortly.

edit: quick perusal shows me nothing on the site. :(

This is freaky. I was just daydreaming at work today about how to print movie posters on acoustically transparent cloth for cool room treatments. Then I get home and find this thread. It's like you were reading my mind or something out of the Twighlight Zone.

Awesome idea. Awesome results.

Very nice. I have been thinking about adding panels in a contrasting color or three to my room to do something similar, but I also considered having panels like this done, as a friend had some custom made for him also and they look good (more of a fabric style than print like these). This gets me even more interested in this format, and I will ask again - something that GIK might offer soon?

Yep, that is indeed very impressive, thanks for sharing.
Now, you can start a new business, perhaps, to make custom printed fabrics?
That is the hard part.

Fantastic. I'm going to see if I can make this work out! I might even order two sets! We will see . . .

I suppose you recommend only the largest file sizes from the istock link? I hope I can figure that site out.
Pretty much we just have to know which picture you like. We will take care of all the ordering of them.
mmmmmmm was that not clear on our page?
Honestly working with these file can be a bit tricky, so using istock we know they are right. Trying to take the "guessing work" out of the customers hands.
;)
Also we are going to try them on just plain 242 panels to see how they work.

Those are AWESOME! I hope to be putting some up in my theater towards the end of the year. I can't wait!

Glenn, I don't know if you would know this or not...but can these be ordered fabric only?

Sure you could. It would run about $160.00 for a 2'x4' image, just so the file is set up correctly.

A couple notes about attaching this kind of stuff.

1)You have to watch to make sure it is straight (given).
2)You have to be very careful to stretch it evenly or it could distort the image.;)
