My New Light... broken.

I just got it in today, and worked great... for about 2 minutes.
No exaggeration. Just started flickering, and then nothing. Started smelling the electronic burning smell. And, then the rope broke.

Then, it dawns on me. Years ago, there used to be an article someone on the web wrote about this sign, same thing happened. Hmm. Made in China.
Could not find it. It was a pretty long time ago.

And... somehow, whoever made the electronics, thought that they could make a ballast run off of 6VDC. Well, you can, but not with that few parts apparently.

Definetly not J-BOX or J-LIST's fault (they didn't make the sign). Heck, I had everything I ordered from Japan in less than a week! But, I probably won't return this, as it'll probably cost me more shipping, and risk getting another faulty unit. So.... I'll just gut the fluorescent system and go all LED.
Oh yeah.

But, at least everything else was great!

I'm pissed because it's brand new and broken!

On the upside, I stole a LED and driver unit out of a Dorcy flashlight to see what color range the old bulb came close to. Seems pretty good that LED's will be replacing the florescent tube.
I thought about using a cold cathode, but that would require an external power supply... so no.


Well, one LED looks pretty good. I'm still getting used to my Canon A590 IS, but it seems to take thus far, great night pictures.

Yeah, it's fixed in the sense that I know what I want to do with it.

Yes, JLIST has some very nice things. None of that porn for me though.
I want the picture books, boy they look nice.

Dude; they are REALLY good. They taste just like it.
Order like 5 of them. They go REAL fast.

I took a pic of the light a few hours ago, and everything is still running smooth.
I guess I'll go down to Radio Suck tomorrow and see if they still have parts bins. LOL.
If not, I'll try to get something online. I'll probably end up making a PCB of sorts and mounting it to the old lamp socket points.


This whole thing has actually got me interested.... make bigger signs.
I'll have to talk to a graphics shop though.

Those Kit-Kats are awesome.
And, strangely, I can order all the Pocky I want at Wal-Mart, believe it or not.

But, they don't have Tomato Pretz, or the rest of the flavors.
