Todays DIY, speaker cables.

Did a little DIY today in the form of making up some speaker cables that allowed to to hook up my MA RS6's using my Onkyo's Bi-amp my front speakers. All in all it would call it a worth while project. I believe I am getting much more separation and dept with this get up. The highs, mids, and lows are very distinctive and sounded great while watching Iron Man.

the wires look great!!! I have always wanted to know how you connected the speakers to the receiver? Do you need two separate amps or do you use speaker outputs A and B? Sorry if it's a silly question but I never seen how they hook up to the receiver.

Ooooooh ... that looks nawyce ... I'm gonna be needin' me some of that. Those look like BJC locking bananas. I can't believe that 6 hours have gone by without another one of the resident wire freaks stopping by to drool. :)

BTW: Are you Irish? :D

Edit: Somebody beat me too the punch.

Very nice!
One question; your pictures didn't show what wire you used.
Could you share that?

Does your wife know your using her dinning room table for a wire project?
I'm telling!:D

Yes please - a list of equipment purchased for this DIY job would be very helpful for all people looking to accomplish the same task.... I love it.... Great Job....

Also, curious how that SubCast wireless transmitter is working for you.... I have never heard of or seen that product before....
Please fill us in....

Your cables look great! You inspired me to do something similar for my HT cables and my music system in the bedroom. What size FlexoPet cover and cable pants did you purchase for the Canare 4S11?

I have a dumb question. Why are there 4 wires going into one speaker?

He either has his speakers bi-amped or Bi-wired. Bi-amping can do a lot if properly done, Bi-wiring does nothing but looks cool to me...so I do it...

Well it does cut the resistance of the wire down. :D Plus it increases the overall pleasure of hooking up your speakers.

Why can't they just put two big, horkin' knobs on the back for some 00 cable? Sure, it's a lot bigger but you wouldn't need to worry about the cable's resistance.

Than just use your jumper cables and everything would be good to go.:D

I'm pretty sure you would incur enough capacitance to make your highs roll off or some such thing. I agree that the bi-wired deals look cool. Especially Don's. Even in pictures his look great ... like dessert, I just want to eat them up. :)

I hope he comes around and says that it's not his first time.
He seemed to know just what to get and just what to do.
