Stupid things that make me yell at the TV

So we're watching The Office last night on NBC, and during one of the commercial breaks there's a teaser ad for the 11:00 news, during which the anchors were exclusively talking about upcoming reporting on the Hudson River plane crash- no surprise since that was the biggest news of the day. However, one of the anchors ended the teaser with the phrase "Stay tuned for our exclusive scoop on the event!"

Exclusive scoop??? This wasn't a case of Woodward, Bernstein, and Deep Throat... this was a big F-ing plane that landed in the middle of the Hudson River!! What was there to scoop??? It's not like they were getting any information that CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox, ABC, CBS, PBS, and every other fricking channel, radio station, and internet site hadn't been covering for the past 7 hours! Unless they had an interview with one of the geese, they really weren't going to cover anything that wasn't already being reported!!!

Needless to say I ranted and raved at the TV (and my poor wife) for 30 seconds, and then I felt better.:eek::D:D

I gotta ask - did you watch the news? If so, what was the exclusive scoop?

Now I'm all curious. :)

"Late Breaking News ..." That was staler than radio commentary I heard an hour or so before.

"When a newscaster gets away from the written script and tries to add their own knowledge on a subject they obviously know nothing about".

"When numbers come into play and they give incorrect numbers or incorrectly try to high level sum them."

"Yellow journalism" -- non-objective, unbiased is what I desire.

Accurate reporting,

I didn't. We went into the bedroom after ER to watch 30 minutes of Spies Like Us on the Roku before falling asleep

So, how do you know they didn't have an exclusive about something to do with the accident? Mind you, I think you are probably right in thinking that the ad for the news was simply a come-on that had little to do with the facts, and much to do with suckering people into watching their show, but it is possible that they did have something that might be worth watching that no one else had.

If I were to hazard a guess about it, I would imagine that it was a worthless exclusive, where they had an interview with a particular individual who did not talk to anyone else, but I doubt that they had anything important that no one else had. Of course, I cannot be sure of this, because I did not see it.

I really think NBC got the scoop when the guy standing on one of the wings called on his cell phone about 5 minutes after they splashed down. A local station didn't stand a chance of being first on the scene, especially when it took 4 minutes for the tour boats to get there.

What a tool.

There is not a guy on the planet I'd like to B-Slap more than that guy.
"Ya followin' me camera guy?"
Yeah- but it makes me laugh hysterically.

I'm going to pour paint, beer, soda, and permanent marker on this piece of white carpet, and 30 seconds later it's clean!!!

On YouTube, look to the right of the video (underneath the description). There should be the word "Embed" followed by a text box with some text in it. Copy that text straight into a post (no need to put any more URL code around it). Some videos don't allow embedding, but it will state that in the "Embed" text box if that's the case.

I love that Shamwow commercial for this reason. Check out under the swatch of carpet at 40 seconds time and notice all the soda that is not under the swatch, and has leaked out friom under it. They then cut to our hero Vince then they go back to the swatch at 46 seconds. Check out the swatch, there is no soda whatsoever near or under the swatch, so they removed it then you have Vince saying how the shamwow picked up all the soda. Um no it's called editing and some studio guy cleaned up all the soda, making it appear like the Shamwow did it all.

The commercial that makes me scream is that stupid, Cash4Gold one. And that Jersey sounding ho says, "I sold my gold diamond wedding band from my first marriage and got cash the very next day" Makes me want to smackaho. Poor guy probably spent thousands and this nimrod of a girl sells it via mail service (that pays nothing for your gold) and she got maybe enough to supersize her happy meal. My GF has a co-worker who used this service and she sent in gold valued at over 1,000 and she got a check for 10.00 and no way to get her gold back. That one just makes me scream.

The commercials that really p*** me off are the ones where the volume magically raises about 10 or 20 db. from the previous show that was on.
