Break in is a myth. Although it's true there are measurable differences, they aren't audible. Assuming you have them setup properly, I'd get different speakers if you don't like how they sound.

yeah i have set them up properly, i even bi-wired them as my amp is bi-wirable. still makes no difference. got cables connected properly, (positive to positive, negative to negative). still no difference.

yeah a few people have said to take them back but i fell in love with my missions the first minute i bought them

Bi-wiring is another myth. Active bi-amping is another story. If you don't like how they sound, I'd take them back and start auditioning again.

They have a four inch woofer in a small cabinet, that's too small of a driver, and too small of a cabinet to expect meaningful bass response.

But beyond that, measurements are necessary to give a more specific answer.

And I'm being pedantic here, but all treble no bass would be bright, not flat.

No way! You have to break in your ears to bad sound?

But seriously I would like to read more on the dispelling of the myth.

I imagine break in is really the time it takes for our brains to adjust to the sound of a speaker.

Those little Missions need a sub in order to hear any bass. I think with a 4 inch woofer your speakers are crying out for a sub........:D

yeah i am having to run a sub at the moment. am running my wharfedale down-firing sub, sounds ok at low levels, but damn i like to crank my sounds up haha. the floor rattles though and distorts the speakers.
Hmm, i think im going to have to take them back. :(

If you like to "crank it up", then why on earth did you buy speakers with four inch woofers?

well to be honest they were the only set of missions within my price range this month. haha. had alot to pay out on my car. have connected them as rears on ma amp now, with my tallstands at front. have set my amp to cut the rear speakers volume slightly too so they dont run full power so it can be cranked up

yes i do. but not to worry, am running them as rears constantly now. am getting a set of m33i missions on tuesday, same design, just a tall stand version for fronts.
