Receiver upgrade nelp needed

I am going to update my Pioneer Elite 45 in the near future, but need some advice on which unit to choose. I will be connecting blu-ray player, satellite receiver, and DTVPAL.

Of course it must be able to decode the higher quality sound tracks available on blu-rays discs. I would prefer a unit that has on screen display with hdmi & component connection, including volume. I would like to be able to rename each input. From here, I'm not sure what is beneficial or just over kill.......Do I need a unit that will upconvert/upscale everything to 1080P even hdmi signals? Do I need a unit that will pass hdmi signals unprocessed?

I really like the appearance of the Pioneer's, but don't know if they have the on screen display, especially the volume. Anyone know if the new releases will have this? I believe the Denon 4308 has the on screen volume, but have no idea if the 3808 does. I also read a pretty good review of the Yamaha V3900 last night, but not sure if it has the on screen voume either.

The Marantz 8002 has it, but I usually set volume based on source from front panel and then adjust by ear The setup is on screen which was more important to me. I rarely look at the audio on screen.

I had a Pioneer Elite VSX 45 TX before but had some failures; the video switching went out. And then there was Pi0neer support who told me they did not support Def Tech speakers when I had a power tripping issue: it was a whisker wire short on the center which tripped above low voulme.

The new HK receivers (model 254 and up) do volume over HDMI and are good units to boot. Just be sure to update the firmware.

All of my components are behind smoked glass. The on screen volume would just make it a little easier + it's kind of a "neat" factor too. I have not had any problem with my Pioneer, but I don't use it for any type of video switching. Not sure that I would a new receiver, but would like it to have the capability, just in case.
