The AXIS seems to be pressurizing the room right about the time my clip lights start coming on.

We seem to disagree with the ability of DYI vs. consumer subs in a real world application. So far, in my eyes and ears, it is all about bang for the buck. The DIY does top the Servo by a fair margin but not so much that it is night and day. When you factor in the price, the DIY really starts to shine. At the price point of 1/2 the cost of the Servo, the DYI really blows it away. If the price was even, the DYI is somewhat better than the Servo.

I think if one was going to sell a top of the line consumer sub, build a high end DIY and expect a whole new level, he would be somewhat disappointed. On paper, the DIY would look a lot better, in a real world application it would be somewhat better.

Please keep in mind, I have not performed any true side by side comparison but that time will come and maybe I will change my mind. Like I have always said; the proof is in the puddin'.

LOL. You don't even have near the ideal power for that sub.....and you can barely get past 1/2 the linear excursion with 2000 watts in a 5 cubed sealed box.... you have almost twice the linear displacement left to use.....

Do you dare power that sub properly? Poor little SERVO... RIP. :)

I think what you are saying is.... since I am just running the AXIS at half of what it will do then it should pair up nicely with the Servo:D

After some further tuning I would like to retract some of my comments above. With my SPL meter at 3m and playing low tones through subs only, the Servo seems to really break up at 103db. It is not bottoming but makes a noise that I think is the Servo mech. kicking in and limiting power; the woofer is going crazy when it hits that point. By contrast, the DIY sub looks like it is hardly moving when I do the same test with it at 103db. The highest I turned up the DYI was 118db and it was still going strong, just got scared at that point.

Just think, if you put it in your pantry you might match the Axis with closet gain :D.

You do realize.. of course.. that dBs are not linear. If you look at it from a linear stand point, that 15dB is roughly 5x(!).... and you don't even have an amp large enough on the unit to drive it any where near it's limits. In addition, your room is over 8,000 cubic feet, right? As I told you before you ever got the thing... your SERVO can not even begin to compare to the AXIS. :)

No, run the AXIS at 1/5th of what it will do and it will pair up nicely with the SERVO. :D
