King Crimson and Doors were on vinyl while Miles was from a CD.

I just can't get enough of this stuff

I did. I actually bought all of his cd's that were available on Amazon, except for the "best of cd" which only contained tracks that were already on the others. I've received 3 so far (Road to Baghdad, Cave City Inkerman, & Color Dreams), and am waiting on "Flamenco" to arrive.Thanks for the heads up on Didula. It's really great music.

PT has, in my opinion, three distinctly different sounds.

Their (Wilson's) earliest work was quite experimental/psychedelic
- "On The Sunday of Life"
- "Up The Downstair"
- "The Sky Moves sideways"

Then more of a Prog/rock sound
- "Signify"
- "Stupid Dream"
- "Lightbulb Sun"

And most recently more of a metal edge
- "In Absentia"
- "Deadwing"
- "Fear of a Blank Planet"

Find and listen to some samples out there to help you decide where to jump in. One word of caution though, PT may prove to be painful to your wallet.

Oh, one more thing, Steven Wilson seems to have fully embraced 5.1 surround. The last six titles above are available on dvd-a and sound fantastic.

What am I listening to? Only one of the more amazing compilations of all time, Tom Waits' Orphans. This started as an out take project but his fertile mind didn't like how he had recorded some old songs, so he completely re-recorded most of them, ended up with about 20 songs. What the heck he says, why not write another 30 new songs and make it a triple CD.

The 3 CDs are labeled as Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards, 3 different styles of song. Every song is different, only held together by Waits ravaged voice with its shouts, growls and grunts. Amazing. Every time I pick up this album I am awed at how creative this guy can be. For a performer that has been in the business for 35 years and is still a gusher of music, this is nothing short of amazing.

- Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole (great song but it was they're first single)

Saw them live, probably one of the few bands I'd actually PAY to listen to (as far as new music that is).
