6Ave 25% Off Coupon -- AV Receivers

6AVE.com has a 25% coupon promotion on select AV recievers (Denon, Marantz, & Yamaha). Coupon code is: AFLAUD25

Not sure how soon it will expire, but I just tried it (7 Jan 09) and it works.

Now I have to decide if I want to cancel my order for a Onkyo TX-SR706 ($549 after negotiating) with Crutchfied ... and buy a Denon 2309CI from 6Ave.com. Decisions Decisions ;)

you can haggle with crutchfield on the price? If it were up to me, I would definitley go with the Denon no question.

i took advantage of this on monday, very sweet deal.

I got a Marantz SR6003 for $749! its usually $999. Pretty darn good deal. The code works on all Blu-Ray players as well.

If you do that you do lose future capabilites to hook up an external amp. The 2309 does not have any pre-outs. You would have to step up to the Denon 2809ci which is a fantastic receiver. I still own the 2809 actually, its very good.

the Onkyo 706 at least has pre-outs. And lots of people love it. Onkyo is not really my thing but YMMV.

You can order a Marantz SR5003 from 6ave.com and get it for $599 thats $200 off ;) and it has pre-outs if you ever decide to get an amp.

You can get the Marantz SR4003 for $411 and it also has pre-outs.

Just thought i would give a little friendly advice. Enjoy whatever you end up with :)

Yep ... I found it on jr.com for that price and Crutchfield matched it (plus free shipping and a nice return policy).

On the Denon 2809 ... I would really like that unit, but its more than I can afford. Trying to keep it under $600. The Onkyo has a lot of features for the money which is why I decided on it in the first place.

But, the coupon brings the Denon 2309 (and, the Marantz 5003) under $600. Now I'm in a real quandry. I've got a couple of days to decide because the Onkyo is on backorder until next week.

I ordered the 2309 over the weekend with that coupon...i debated the marantz as well, but since my last 2 avr's had been marantz i thought i would change it up a little. I would pick both Denon and Marantz over the onkyo;) JMO.

its infuriating dealing with 6ave though...they are in NJ snd I am in VT so its 1 day UPS ground.. but they have taken 3 days just to get it into the system and now I am tracking it with UPS and it only shows "billing info "received":(:(
And if you call them they are basically like" FU!!!!.. you got a a great price deal with it jerkie"

Amazon has sure spoiled me....but i am hoping to se if before the weekend and hopefully it will arrive unscathed. I can't say i would do business with 6ave again...but it was a GREAT price...

That's what I really like about Crutchfield ... they seem to really care about their customers and want to help as much as they can.

It wouldn't hurt 6Ave to be polite ... makes me wonder what they'd be like to deal with if you have a problem with something you purchased from them.

yeah i've heard 6ave is sometimes iffy to deal with.

I called them and they were pretty nice, but i guess it depends on who you talk to...then again i could say that about any company.

Like i said i own the Denon 2809 currently and as its a great receiver i just dont think it sounds the best with my equipment in my enviroment. Im looking for a fuller warmer sound, and thats supposidly what Marantz has to offer me.

Like i said if its something your thinking about keeping for awhile i recommend getting a receiver with pre-outs so you can build on it.

That's good to hear. However, I'm not surprised by your initial information received via UPS. That's pretty typical - relatively little information is provided up front. Also, it's hard to tell how frequent UPS makes their pick ups from 6th Ave. Hopefully, daily - but, who knows? It could be every other day, which might have meant a bit of a lag.

Though, something finally in transit is good news.

arrived today and is sitting in the garage...wife is WAY to stressed out for me to spring this on her right now. But it looks to be double boxed and well packed....now i just need to feed her some turkey and boxed wine to get her to go to bed...(seinfeld reference:D +1 for those who got it)

I'm glad to hear that they package well. I will probably be ordering when they have their next sale like this.

OT, but the tryptophan in turkey causes calmness, not sleepiness. It's the eating of lots of food that can cause sleepiness.

Of course some calmness when unveiling large purchases can't hurt...

Good luck, my wife really flipped out on my last two purchases. I figured she would be a little mad but not near as mad as she really was. I told her my Paradigm 40's and Servo15 were getting old, she didn't buy that since they were only 1.5 years old:eek:

I took my old AVR out of the system this weekend and she has not noticed the giant opening under the TV, plus i do not think she noticed the box int he garage...so since the denon sort of looks like the older marantz...i may pull this off. Of course that maybe the bourban talking...

bigred7078 ... Think your advice is pretty sound ... I'll leave the Denon 2309 off the list. You're correct that it doesn't have all the features of the Onkyo (pre-amp plus video upscaling isn't as complete & setup is a bit more difficult).

TundraSQ ... would be interested in a follow up on your experience with the 2309 install.

Does anyone know if the 706 uses the same video processor (Faroudja DCDi FLI2310) as the Denon. I undestand that the Onkyo 806 has some video processing issues (assume it uses a different video processor than the 706).

unless you're playing VHS tapes through your receiver, I wouldn't regard the vp in a avr as an option to consider. just my two cents.

and especially not in this price range:cool:

PS.. switch is made and the new denon is in place....this weekend i will hook it up. Compared to the marantz sr7500 it is replacing it is a pup, but it looks and feels very solid.
