I get a strong feeling your work for EMO......

Hey, does anyone mind if I post six times in a row about how nice the NAD lineup of amplifiers are? :D

Ok, fine, fine, how about, um, Sunfire instead? :p

JK. I just like the FLEXIBILITY of the monoblocks. What I want to know is how they measure comparably in power to the Rotel. I don't buy the "cleaner" thing of Rotel, but who knows. Outlaws can pretty much power anything out there. Hell, I've had brick and mortar salesmen speak very favorably about Outlaw amplifiers when I've posed the question.

The Dawg's issues are unacceptable!

I think Emo should have given him another chassis since this one was defective.

I did not have any issues with Emo when I got the MPS-2.

One thing I would consider is 5 yrs warranty with Outlaw & Emotiva vs. no warranty at all on a used Rotel.

Now, I would go for a brand new Rotel with a 5 yr warranty.:D

Too many great amps, not enough life time or money.:D

BigRed7078 is generally helpful in the EMO and AVS Forums. However, he ripped me a new one on the AVS Forums when I suggested that few people would be able to tell the difference between receiver amps and an external amp in a double-blind, levels-matched, and easy-to-drive speakers.

I think picking an amp is easy. If you don't care about cost at all, you get a Classe or BAT. If you don't care how it looks but you want performance at dirt cheap cost, you go pro Yamaha or Behringer. If you are somewhere in between, you go with the run of the mill consumer amps.

Thanks rnatalli. But i dont recall you saying easy to drive speakers. Its just been in my experience...(not JUST emotiva) that external amps can be very beneficial. Point is, Klipsch RF-7's are easy to drive...but they can definately benefit with an external amp because they have lower impedence dips.

I mention Orbs in my post on page 80 and those are pretty easy to drive. I invite my fellow Audioholics to read some of the ignorant statements AVS members made and lets not forget noobs who have golden ears.

ooooh gotcha. I didnt even read the Orb comment. I was just referring to placebo effect and how it never fails for someone to bring it up in whatever the situation is. Its usually a typical defense/offense.

But i do agree about the orbs, but can't comment personally since i've never heard them. I do know they can be configured for 4ohms, and technically would be better suited for an external amplifier.

Regardless this has all gotten way off topic, my bad, so lets just carry on. We all have our own opinion, i repect that. I guess it just goes to show that YMMV is so very very very true :)

Can we all just get along? Let's face it. Rotel, Outlaw, Emotiva, etc., in my experience, all make great, well built products. It doesn't mean you couldn't end up with a bad egg. No QA department is full proof and a bad one may slip through. But generally, all 3 of these companies are very reputable and are not selling garbage. Customer service can very. That is evident. There is no perfect company in this department. One's opinion of customer service can literally change overnight. All it takes is one bad experience. :)

To answer the OP's original question, I think I'd go with the Rotel myself just to have a cleaner layout. But I would take an EMO XPA-5 over both options.

For crying out loud!!! When I went to bed last night this thread was still on track..sheesh, I can't leave you kids alone for one minute:rolleyes:....I'm just kidding guys. I respect everyones opinion. I've always been a one box solution guy, so I don't even know what to expect by adding an amp? I just want something thats gonna match well with the Paradigms, and that will give me a signifigant boost over what my current set up is. I'm not concerned about asthetics as it will be in an AV closet anyway.

Then you should look no further than the Yamaha and behringer pro amps. I have a EP2500 and it is a beast.

Guys, PLEASE!!!!
This isn't AVS. Please don't bring the issues from there over here.

I think we can all agree that every company has it's ups and downs. And all of us have had a bad experience that has swayed us to never buy that company's products again. For me it's B&K and Sony (and of course Bose and Monster just for principle).

There are many good amplifiers out there. For the most part it all comes down to design and amplifier class that makes the differences. There are also quite a few companies that use outside sources to manufacture their equipment.

To the OP: In the end just buy what will make YOU happy.

(BTW- I love big stacks of monoblock amps)

I'm using seven Behringer A-500's bridged to run my theater. No problems for me. Approximately 500wpc for less than $200 each. Granted, you won't have remote triggers, but it's not an issue for me.

These replaced my B&K 7270 amp.

If Aesthetics aren't important then I can see considering one of those, but you may want to also consider heat and noise. I've heard they can very loud and very hot. This my not be an issue in your environment either, but I think it should be considered.
