Mounting Centre Speaker Under Table

Hi,

I am going to shortly get a Tannoy Mercury Custom FC centre speaker and I was wondering where on my computer desk I should put it as it will be part of a 5.1 surround sound system for my PC. I don't really want to put it under my LCD screen (Philips 200WS8FS) as the monitor will be too high and you can't adjust the height, but could I mount it under the desk right under the monitor or would that not work?

Why don't you build a little shelf above your monitor and put it there?

Can't Do That

Why don't you build a little shelf above your monitor and put it there?
Unfortunately my desk is right in front of a window so it would be impossible to mount a speaker on a shelf there

Djizasse, just very curiously, have you ever tried or considered experimenting with the center speaker upside down?

If I remember right, I did try it but did not hear any improvement. Anyway, it's just 5 inches and when the system is in 5.1 (gaming or music with yamaha Enhancer 5.1) I'm 6-9ft away. And this way I can read Tannoy right lol

What I've considered is making a hole in the wall to push the center away from me. When I unwrapped the center I could not believe how big it was :D
But thanks for noticing, I'll try it again. I've notice my aural acuity is getting better the more I hang out over here ;)

To the OP, if you have some space from the back of the desk, to the wall, maybe you could put the center under the desk, facing up, next to the wall. If you I guess this way the first waves to arrive your ears would come from under/back the LCD. I don't know if this works, but it might be better than your other option.

The back and one side of my desk is closed off by a solid thick wood panel so I don't think I could do that either and space is very limited in my room so I don't think I could move the desk forward a bit either.
