Home Theater Setup (Energy Classics or Other)

Hey everyone I have a question on the following set up is.

The reciever is a Yamaha RX-V1800 (6190B)

Originally I had planned to pair this reciever up with the Energy Take Classic 5.1 set. But I think I would get better sound if I went with

Velodyne Subwoofer (DSP-12B)
2 X Klipsch Synergy Tower Speaker (F2) Front
2 X Energy Bookshelf Speaker (C100) Rear

But I noticed that the second setup does not have a center-channel speaker. Would a center-channel speaker be required or would the 2 towers suffice? Should I just stick with the energy classic set?

Thanks in advance

I would give the Take Classics a try. I convinced my dad to pick these up. Before he took them home we hooked them up in my HT for a listen. I was very impressed with how clean they sounded and how well they filled the space. The bass is a little weak, but unless you have a very large space to fill, these are a pretty decent set of speakers.

You will definitely want a center channel no matter what the setup for home theater - the Klipsch Reference Series RC-52 would mate well with the F2 fronts.

Although I have encountered a couple of people who prefer to not have a center channel, I agree that a center channel is a must. In fact, I would rather give up surround speakers than give up a center channel. There is nothing like a center channel to solidly anchor the dialog to the screen, no matter where you are in the room.

I have not heard the take 5 system, but I have always heard great things about it. If you go with the second setup though, you definitely need a center channel. As for the sub, you might get a little more for your money with an SVS sub.
