movies i've watched this Christmas vacation

Tristan + Isolde

not a bad movie - pretty good actually, i can't believe i've never heard of it before. i was browsing through the video store and picked it up because i've run out of movies to watch.

Prince Caspian

i was supposed to wait for the BD of this one, but since i couldn't wait for the BD, i purchased a DVD. then two days later a guy offers me the BD. sucks, but i guess i saved a bit of money. overall, it's about at par with the first narnia (IIRC)

Warriors of Heaven and Earth

i like these chinese movies - this one was a good movie IMO.

Ali G in da House

it's pretty cheap, but it helped me spend the vacation. i never watched straight through borat, but i'd say this was 10x better. not that borat was any good.

Golded Compass

so i have my 4 subs connected to the SMS-1, three from the three RCA outputs and one from the XLR output on the SMS-1. i notice that one of the subs was in distress with the loud bass in the movie. as expected, it's the one with the XLR input, it's (as per velodyne) 3db hotter than the others, on top of the standard 6db hot for each sub i calibrate.

looks like i need more subs :D [of course, for the mean time, i've lowered the gain on that one sub. i do not like doing that] i have found the systems limits - it's higher than i normally listen/watch - but i don't like the fact it's too close. ;)

Battlestar Galactica Razor

i don't think i've watched season 3 or 4 - i lost interest after they were caught with their pants down in the new planet - and the fact every freakin character is a cylon. (kinda like heroes, where the normal guys are rare) but it's still ok, not bad by any means.

Rurouni Kenshin Season 1-3

season 1 and 2 were great. season 3 is crap. i love the fact i could skip through the chapters, opening credits, end credits and the normal commercial breaks when i wanted to catch this on tv.

AVP2

three words. "the black movie." wtf were they thinking? "let's make the movie dark so people don't freakin see what they're freakin watching."

Italian Job on HD DVD (finishing off the Toshiba free discs, still have Black Rain to go)

well, i think i've watched this before. it's a good movie, but seriously, if edward norton was gonna die anyway, they should have just walked in the house, shot edward norton, and walk away with the gold.

i'm sure i've forgotten others, i'll add to this if/when i remember what the others were.

Mike,

How do you get all that movie watching in with a wife and young boy in the house???:)

I have watched Kung Fu Panda...much better than the trailers made it out to be and some good bass to boot. I think we'll have time to watch The Dark Knight tonight or tomorrow night. Saw this in the theater and loved it. Looking forward to seeing it again. Oh yea, and Iron Man also...

I also watched Live "Live at the Paradiso" DVD concert. I enjoyed this one quite a bit but it could have been better with a different editing style. They did alot of "MTV" style editing. (you know switching cameras every 2 seconds) Also most of the time the cameras were focused on Ed Kowalczyk The lead singer. I would have liked to see more of the band playing. especially Chad Gracy (the drummer) He's one of my favorites. Hey but the music was good! I'm going to watch it again real soon to listen more closely to sound quality...and really just to watch again...I really like this band.

I watched about half of "Where The Light Is - john Mayer Live in Los Angeles". It has 3 sets. The First Is mostly just him with an acoustic guitar. the second is just a trio. These are the two I had time to see. I enjoyed these very much. sounded good if not a little bassy. The third set is his full band. I try to get this in tonight or tomorrow also.

Sorry for the long post.

I watched Kung Fu Panda with my parents last night. I really enjoyed it. Funny, strangely enlightening, and (like SBF1 mentioned) some good bass at times.

Perhaps The Dark Knight tonight. I've never seen it, and neither has my dad. My mom could care less about it, which is why we've been watching other stuff so far.

i've hired 1 1/2 full time nannies :D (1/2 because she only comes to help when the main nanny goes to pee, eat, etc.)

and i also told the wife i need to watch all pending movies because "what if i die in a plane crash" :)

for some reason i'm not interested in buying the dark knight BD. i kinda find it boring.
and i'm currently on an epic medieval/sword fighting battle theme at the moment.

i did see kung fu panda on BD though ... and then my BD of tropic thunder my brother left at LA - i don't know when i'll see that.

I just finished watching the Dark Knight with my parents. Woah. That's one complicated plot there. The dialogue was much lower compared to the music than most movies that I've watched, so it was tough to get the volume right at first. Overall, I liked the movie. I didn't like everything about the plot, but it had some great action in it.

OK...so there was Benjamin Button - not a favorite, good, but I didn't understand, in the end, why? What does it mean?

and there was Yes Man, another clever vehicle for Jim Carey to almost be a good actor if only he wouldn't make all those dumb faces.

and then there was, The Day The Earth Stood Still - and OK but not great remake of a great flick....why?

and then there was the DVD of Dark Knight that came into the house...watched it 3 times.
