How funny. I was just reading about that today also. Did you just get your PE catalog too?

It certainly looks interesting. Not quite sure how it sounds though.

Just got my PE too and was looking at these.

Seriously, I have no life.
As I was just looking at that in my little PE catalog, my first impression is that the highs can easily be modulated by the midrange, just like when someone speaks with a rotating fan in front of them. I'd have to try this kind of arrangement before going full-bore into a build like that.

I've never heard anything like those speakers, but I know someone who did hear them at Dayton DIY2008. I trust his judgment and ears, and he said they were the best speakers he heard that day. He was intrigued by the sound of the opposed omnidirectional mids and monopolar tweet combined that way.

If Paul Kittinger was responsible for the design of the TL bass module, then it will be very good. A tapered 71" long line, folded into that box looks to me like a very difficult build. There seems to be few, if any, right-angle joints.

It appears to have a more promising realistic sound than most DIY projects. Assuming you set them up right and the right room acoustics - which most people won't. Put it in place of regular speaker placement and it will probably sound terrible.
