So I'm a noob. I just picked up a SONY A/V Receiver (STRDG820) and a POLK 5.1 Speaker System (RM6750) The reciever has only one female sub out on it, the Sub has L and R female inputs. Do I need to Y into both or can I just connect to either the L or R input on the sub, if so L or R or does it matter?

The manual for the sub will tell you which to use on the Sub for the LFE channel....generally it is the left input. But as I said check your manual and it should tell you which to use....if not, go with the left input...

It's on page 6 of the OP's manual.

It can be left or right, but the manual recommends using a Y-cable.

Best Deal cables? They need to rename their site. The Audioholics store has a better price on Y-cables. Monoprice doesn't sell the FMM RCA Y-cables. Audioholics has a cheaper price than Parts Express or Blue Jeans.

I'd also throw out Radio Shack (for local) and Amazon (for internet) as places to get these cables.

You could also get a longer cable that goes from one male RCA to two male RCA connectors, instead of getting a y-adapter that would plug onto the end of your existing RCA cable.
