i'm a nebee here and was hoping some can help me out.

I just got A Sony bdp-350 Blu ray player and i try to run it through my AV via HDMI. my tv is a sony flat 720p. when i went into my denon, I assigned the hdmi input to my dvd and assigned the audio to my optical. seems all I get is only sound no picture. I also did tell the player to send out a 720p singe since my tv is 720p. can anyone help me.

Sounds as if you AVR does not have repeater architecture, now required. If you can see a picture from an older player on that HDMI input and can see a picture with your BD player connected to your TV via HDMI, then that is likely you problem.

If that is your problem, then your best solution is to use an external switcher with repeater architecture, and switch your HDMI sources separately.

Alternatively, if your TV has more than one HDMI input, you can connect the BD player to one of the TV HDMI inputs.

I gather since you made an HDMI and optical connection, that your receiver is HDMI pass through. Is that correct? If so your receiver will not have repeater architecture required to interface current HD units to devices that also output HDMI.
