Ok so I am going to put together a better system and would like some advice.

recently aquired a pair of polk rti-a9 and rti-a7
also i purchased a pair of infinity 12vq 4ohm single voice coil subs at an auction they happen to be the 1600watt versions.

looking at the yamaha rx-v2700 as i can aquire one for pennys
would like to bi-amp for the fronts (rti-a9s)

looking at running 2 behringer ep2500
Behringer ULTRA-DRIVE PRO DCX2496 for bass control

build custom diy encolsures for the infinity 12vqs for LFE output mainly

the setup is mainly for HT and gaming though i do like to play music alot!

i love deep low bass will this create enough? also do i need to run a dedicated 20amp circuit to this setup?
Thanks.

yes, having a dedicated circuit be good for your dual EP2500's ...

if you are going for the ported kappa design, then yes, you're gonna get plenty of 20hz output.

let me move this thread to the DIY forum

Be certain to use subsonic filters under the tuning frequency of the port, especially when using that much power in a ported system.

Try looking at www.mcmaster.com do a search under mineral wool. They have many different options.

Also, pm Avaserfi as he has access to some at a pretty good price.

You don't really need two EP2500s. One will be just fine, with 650 clean watts to each Kappa Perfect driver in a proper ported enclosure system. As an alternative to two Ep2500s since you want to spend that much, is to get a Yamaha P7000S. It has no fan noise to contend with, and it will output a clean nearly 1000 watts x 2 into 4 Ohms, both channels driven, 20Hz-20,000Hz. This is enough power for most subwoofer drivers in existance, and then some.

Sounds like it's coming along, anxious to see the final results.

What sound card you go with?

I went with an external soundblaster 5.1 card that was highly regarded though i purchased it before i realized there where problems whith it and VISTA though i think i will be able to get it to work.

Cant wait to finally align my car setup as well.

I think i might tap into the power circuit that goes to the spa in the back yard to power all of this unfortunatly the main circuit box is on the oposite side of the house as the theater room.

i also need to find a rti-a7 speaker to match the other one i have that will be used for surround side speakers.

ok so i picked up a DENON POA-2400 for a good price locally. it is rated 200wpc continuous at.002 thd and dynamic of 700wpc at 1ohm. hopefully this will be enough to fill the room with the 8ohm rti-a9 drivers.

Ok so i connected my polks to the DENON POA-2400 and pluged it into my external usb soundblaster turned it on and WOW what an improvement even without a pre-amp yet.

bass seamed to be pretty low though could be a driver issue.

so far very impressed with this old school amp!!!

It was never clarified: are you building the avaserfi slot port cabinets for these?

If so, you will be in for a surprise, so far as the extended LF output, complete transparent bass quality at very high levels.

Update: everything is aquired except some wood for the second box.

i have finished the first box except for bondo paint etc. I must say this thing is HUGE! alot bigger than it looks on the picture. I am going to hook it up as i cant wait to bondo it.

I am going to use one of the amps in stereo to feed 700watts to this sub so i can make sure everything runs ok before i bridge it.
