Thanks for kickin my butt on this. So I decided to take my Jamo C603's and hook them up to my Denon 3802 just to see how they compared to B&W 602. I was blown away to say the least. The Jamo wiped the floor with my 602's
I can't freakin Believe it.All this time I had been loving the sound of the 602's and I had a set for my surround that smoked them right upstairs. I feel like an idiot. I guess I will be selling my B&W's now instead of the Jamo's. They really do sound amazing.....I will however keep my Matrix 804's as they are some of the finest sounding speakers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing
Anyone want some B&W 602's?
I'm glad you gave them a chance and ended up liking them.
Your situation was very similar to mine. We both bought them for additional systems in the house (other than our beloved main system) and never really gave them (the C607 and C603) an honest/real chance to see what they can do and how they sound.
Both the C603 and C607 are excellent sounding speakers and in my opinion, should NOT be considered cheap/budget or lacking in terms of design and sound. Their performance is absolutely stellar!
Yes, they look like plain 'ole boxes. No cool curves, no beautiful real wood veener. Just a simple, but nice laminate (for the Dark Apple finish). And the Dark Apple in my opinion looks much nicer than the Black finish. Much more colorful and convincing.
But hook them up to a nice receiver and they sing wonderfully. Hook them up to some higher quality seperates amps and pre amps; and they absolutely startle you with their beautiful, cohesive, stable, smooth and oh so musical sound. The balanced frequency response is beautiful. The midrange...gorgeous. The bass......oh how wonderful the bass. Tight, responsive, dynamic, stable and a little touch of warmth to add to their overall excellent musicallity.
Instruments sound so natural, so organic......you can feel and hear the wood of the instruments.
And don't forget to fiddle around with their placement. The C607 really open up and become something else, when moved out at least 15 inches from the backwall. Anywhere from 12 " to 25 " should be perfect for most rooms.
But it will depend on your room. I tried just 12 " from the backwall and that was damn good. Bringing them out a few more inches made some nice improvements.
One more thing, and I feel like this is very important with all speakers. Make sure or at least try.....if you can, to make sure the front baffle of your speakers sits further out than any piece of furniture you may have between your speakers. Do a line sight and make sure the front baffles don't sit further back. You want your front baffles to be ahead of anything else between them or any piece of furniture that may sit to their immediate left and right outsides.
Jamie, just for kicks and for the sake of fun; maybe you could try bringing your C607 downstairs and hook them up to your main system with your Denon 3802 Acurus a250 components. I mean if you want to, that is.
I'd love to hear/read your reaction to how the C607 would do in that system.
I'm willing to bet you'll be equally shocked (and pleased). These C607's are amazing.
