I have a friend who lives in an apartment the room size is roughly 3-400 sq. ft. His budget is $2,000 to 2,250 max. This is mostly for movies, and tv usage. He's got a sweet 46" sammy lcd and no GF so he's going for the best man setup he can do within the budget. The budget is also just for speakers and sub. Does anyone have any great ideas for him, or something that could point him in the right direction?

Thanks

I don't know, I can't hear specs.......
That is a big sale.

Just to be picky, especially since it is from Audioholics, why aren't there any tolerance specs on the frequency response of the front, center, & surround speakers (like +/- 3dB)?:D

Yeah, but then again, you're probably drinking some alcoholic beverages right now.

So does that mean you and Andrew won't even try to measure the bass limit on your precious new punk subwoofer?:D

That's sweet! I wonder what I could have put together with that kind of money.

I have the GF though and she got the other part of the budget hehe.

Make sure he gets a nice chair at least. No reason to not sit in comfort with a nice system.

He could also look into this which is an awesome deal and would leave him money for a BR player, AVR and some popcorn.

Have you heard these speakers before? Would this setup be better than convincing him to say get a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 v5 with the center and a HSU or SVS sub, or getting a pair of the Swan Diva 6.1 with center and HSU or SVS sub?

Thanks.

If you look through the thread below you can see Gene's comments on the EMP (i.e. RBH internet version) systems relative to the $999 SVS 5.1 system, and also see the last post in the thread. The EMPs look like a great on sale deal in their list price range, but if you pay more you can probably find better sounding systems. I think this was more or less the conclusion of the bookshelf speaker shootout article where the RBHs were reviewed. You need to look at the EMP 5.1 system specials for December and ask can you find 5.1 RBH comparable system quality anywhere near these prices, and is it worth the extra money to make a jump to the next higher speaker quality level or not?
