Denon's Gone Class D

Denon has finally released a product that uses a derivative of Class D amplification. They have a series of products, receiver, SACD/CD player, as well as combination unit that offers both the SACD/CD player and receiver in the same chassis. If you want to go the extra mile and get their compact monitors to match the components, but get ready for for a dent in the pocket. These micro sized components don't come at mass market prices.

I actually think it looks nice. Clean and simple. The real question is, how does it sound?

Hopefully neutral, especially considering it took them so long to come out with something that uses Class D.

The new Pioneers are class D as well
Not their stereo offerings that I've seen. I've looked into those. The higher end AVRs offer ICE power Class D configurations.

Does anyone else think this is one step closer for them to claim that they have products that are "green"? I see that NAD has some CD drives out now that are "green" and consume less than 1W of power while in standby mode.

I heard the SX A9 at a mini ces, with a pair of MA PL100 and was very impressed with both. FWIW look for a new ice powered amp from the elite line comming up;)
